has anyone had any trouble sleeping? my wife has had tremendous trouble going to sleep. I have not had a problem falling asleep, however, I seem to wake up in the middle of the night now. Any ideas?

I was having trouble for awhile, too. Seems to have gotten a lot better lately, though. Maybe it's one of those side affects that goes away once your body adapts?

I'm certainly not a wise one, but in my first few weeks of vaping, yes, I had trouble falling asleep. My eyes were bugging out of my head and I had tons of energy. I don't know if I was vaping too much or if it was the fact that I was quitting something I'd been doing for decades and actually had oxygen flowing to my brain and other cells again. I also felt lightheaded for about a week. It eventually faded and now I'm fine. I also think it had something to do with the psychological effect of stopping smoking in general. Lots of changes going on we don't know about when we quit, I think.

Maybe cut the nic level or vape less would help with that. I don't know.

Try using low or no nic for a couple of hours before bed, see if it helps. I have always had trouble going to sleep, so I can't really help much.


Yep, that is why I only vape the low or 0 nic at night. I was finding I was having trouble settling down. (I tend to do my power vaping at night lol)

Im agreeing with Pugz, If you were to change your diet drastically, you would expect to have all sorts of physiological effects...take a new med, or stop an old one, and your body's going to react.

Quitting smoking is absolutely no different. You have been poisoning your body for years with MASSIVE doses of chemicals and your body has become accustomed to dealing with the onslaught as best its could.

Now you have completely and totally changed the chemistry to which your body is exposed, probably reduced your stress level, perhaps even changed your eating and sexual habits, these are incredible changes to take, and all at once no less. Your body and mind are bound to exhibit some odd side effects...but the outcome will be worth it.

Monitor yourself VERY closely...contact your doctor and let him/her help.

Also nightmares/ trouble sleep is a withdraw symptom from tobacco. So it is actually quite common.

Here is a list of other symptoms you or your wife might experience.

During the quitting process people should consider the following physical symptoms of withdrawal as they were recuperating from a disease and treat them accordingly as they would any physical symptoms:

  • Tingling in the hands and feet
  • Sweating
  • Intestinal disorders (cramps, nausea)
  • Headache
  • Cold symptoms as the lungs begin to clear (sore throats, coughing, and other signs of colds and respiratory problem, runny nose)

Nearly every moderate to heavy smoker experiences more than one of the following strong emotional and mental responses to withdrawal.

  • Feelings of being an infant: temper tantrums, intense needs, feelings of dependency, a state of near paralysis.
  • Insomnia
  • Mental confusion
  • Vagueness
  • Irritability
  • Anxiety
  • Depression is common in the short and long term. In the short term it may mimic the feelings of grief felt when a loved one is lost. As foolish as it sounds, a smoker should plan on a period of actual mourning in order to get through the early withdrawal depression.

Even though you are still getting your nicatine there is other chemicals that your not that the body is addicted to. So expect some not all. And welcome them as they are a sign your body is getting rid of the junk!

And of course with any symptom always check with the doctor.

My mom is having bad dreams as well. This one was kinda funny.
She called me today and mentioned a bad dream she had last night.
Had to do with me hiding meat (yes meat) from the cats and kids. For some reason she was really worried about this 25lbs of meat.. hahaha she is of course freaking out in her dream because I wasn't fast enough and the cats got ahold of it.
I have 7 cats and she has 4 cats and 4 kittens. ( so everyone doesn't think we are cat horders. We run a small cat rescue.):shock:

THis makes alot of sense Allestaria! Especially when you consider most of your body has had to make due with limited oxygen for years and suddenly it is getting it all back!
ALos your skin, sweat glands, digestive, and mucus are all part of the excreatory abilitity of your body to rid itself of poisons, toxins and such. The bottom list deals more with the actual withdrawl sysmptoms I would think and the top list is most of a natural getting rid of process. These top sysmptoms should not be all that bad since these are toxins you have normally been eliminating for years anyways but perhaps in smaller amounts as your body may have been dependant on them.
SO like everyone above says if your concerned about any sysmptoms the doctor is the first person you should see! ALso I bet your doctor will be surprised and happliy want to monitor your progress and results as your body gets better! I know mine never failed to chew me out regularlly for smoking everytime I got bronchitis!

Here's another option for you, and it has worked exceptionally well for my wife. Get some "Sleepy Time Green Tea" lung juice from NHaler (sorry for mentioning another vendor) and put it in one of your cartomizers. It is a low-nic liquid (8mg IIRC) and it has some melatonin in it. If you research melatonin you will find that it is a compound that the body makes naturally to start the "fall asleep" process and it is over-the-counter. Our doctor recommended it for our 7 year old daughter and it has been a heaven's send.

My wife vapes this right before bed time and "boom", she's off to see the sandman. But.. it won't help you with the problems of waking up at night. The melatonin is normalized by the body fairly quickly and the effects are gone usually within an hour or two. That's not to say that a few quick vapes with the stuff in the middle of the night wouldn't help to put you back down.
