Tomorrow will be 1 month off analogs for me and love being a vapor. I was spending about $300 per month smoking and so I expect vaping to end up being a major cost saver. This month however I have spent a lot more getting all my supplies. Lots of juice, 4 boge leo's, carto's and of course my complete silver bullet set up that arrived yesterday:p. So my question is once you get the setup that works for you do you find that you start saving money or, as I fear, does it become a never-ending quest of mod collecting.

For some people, it's a never ending juice-fest, getting-the-best-equipment-fest, trying-everything-new-fest...but if you find something that works and find some juice that you can enjoy on a day-to-day basis, then it's quite easy to save a load of money. After you find that spot and you don't give in to the mod/juice monster, then all you'll need to buy is some new cartos/attys and maybe some new batteries every now and then.

I noticed that once I got settled in and started DIY juice, I started saving money. I was spending around $300/month to smoke and now I spend probably $40/month to vape. I might buy another mod at some point, but I haven't decided if I want a 5V or a VV yet.

The initial start-up with vaping is always the time that cost the most. There's a lot of experimentation going on; trying to find the right juice and the right PV.

@~$8.00 per pack for smokes here in NJ, and myself about 6 packs per week. Even with all I have bought, I will break even quickly. That is with wasing money on Green Smoke and Esmoke. I have a Yeti 510 from altsmoke, E-Power from LF, juices and some cartos from classifieds. And STILL will not take long break even. My calculator below does not reflect anything but savings on Analogs.

Plus the biggest saver on all of this is of course MY LUNGS!

On average, the current smoker can spend roughly 150.00 a month for just a pack a day. If you smoke more then that, then of course it will cost more. With that being said, a new setup can run as low as 70-80.00 for just a basic 510 starter kit, a 5 pack of cartomizers, and a 30 ML bottle of e-juice all with shipping included.(in case your wondering, 44.00 for the starter kit, 9.99 for the cartomizers, and 19.99 for the 30 ML of juice.)

Now most of us have figured out along the way, that two batteries isn't going to cut it, or the 5 pack of carto's contains duds, or the juice just wasn't what we thought it was going to be. So the cost of what one spends the first couple months of vaping is going to be double, triple or even quadruple what it will be once a decent and passable setup has been found. For the last 9 months, my average cost per month has been 35-45.00. (again, in case you're wondering I buy 2 packs of cartomizers, and couple bottles of juice just to get me through).

Did I go through a spurt where nothing worked, and everything was failing on me left and right. Yup sure did, and we're all going to have months like that, where you spend out hundreds because every piece of equipment has a manufacturing defect, or you just wanted to try something new. Don't be afraid of spending a little to find that satisfaction factor IF you can afford it. But don't think that you gotta have the newest thing out there just because its new. BBD( bigger better deals) in vaping can break you and your monthly budget.

Once you get stuff you like, plenty of chargers, spares for everything, find juices you like, then it's cheaper.

I spent a lot in the beginning, with more stuff than you can imagine for a weak super-mini model I ended up replacing by the end if the month. Then I bought 2 different slim mini models (the most popular ones) and that was better, built upon those with spares and chargers and cartos and juices. Then since I have the two most popular threadings (510 and KR808D-1) I could add things like a fat battery 3.7v model at 5 months, and a little mod box at 6 months, and most recently the clone Ego 3-stage battery at 9 months and I don't need all new stuff. I have a 510 to 808 adapter so everything can be used on the big batteries. Occasionally I buy a replacement battery, blank cartos, an atty.

Juicewise, I have slowed way down. I think in the first 4 months I must have tried every juice I ever saw that I thought I might like. But now I have 3 main juices I restock and a handful of of others I use less often. I try some new juices but not that often.

I'm still new as well. I've bought 2 510 models, a slim and a fatter batt one. Gonna stick to one thread size for now so parts are interchangeable. Now just trying out different cartos and juices. I do limit myself to about 25 bucks a week, my wife helps keep me limited ;) . For me right now it's all about finally getting totally off the analogs which I did this week. Wasn't till I got some juices I like that was able to do that. Seemed more expensive to me starting out with buying the starter kits, juice, cartos and yet still supplementing with analogs. I feel now I'm up and going I can start the savings.

At first, no you probably won't save a lot; however if you can be satisfied with good and don't have to always get the latest and greatest then you should do fine. I have been approx. 3 months and have only saved about $50 over analogs. However a lot of that was wasted money on mini's, liquids, and delivery methods. I now have a Riva 1100Mah, ECblend for my liquid, and Gotvapes fluxomizers all of which I am very happy with. My spending has seriously slowed now and I am starting to save a lot more.
