I've just finished going through all 30 pages and cannot seem to find the info I'm looking for...I think I got lost in all the variants!

I want to build a 5V box mod for DH's 510 and another for my 801.

I've ordered the batt connectors for both from Nerf and they should be here by next weekend. What I need, though, is a list of the remaining parts I'd need.

Like I said, there are a LOT of variants of the box mod and although I can solder fine, I'm unsure of which components I need other than the box/connector/switch/batteries (but which batts for 5V?), so I need to keep it as simple as I can.

Anyone willing to help?

Thanks,

Sherry

Is there a RadioShack by you?

4aa Battery Box
Enclosed 4 “AA” Battery Holder - RadioShack.com

NO Switch(NO = Normally Open) Not the best switch...someone else will give you a better one
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062541

I prefer the TI Regulators(The just work better) but Radio Shack sells ones too
+5V Fixed-Voltage Regulator 7805 - RadioShack.com

14500(AA Sized) li-ion Batteries (You Need Two and a Charger)
Protected UltraFire 14500 AA sized 3.6V Li-Ion Rechargeable Battery 900 mAh CR14500 Lithium Ion

And you already have the Adapters....Thats all you need...there are Better/cheaper places to buy this stuff...But Radioshack and batteryjunction are pretty quick and easy

Thanks to all who responded...I really appreciate the help!

I think I might have bought the wrong switch from RS...this "looks" the one I got, but mine has two prongs on the bottom instead of one.

Red Button SPST Pushbutton Switch - RadioShack.com

I'll pick up the one recommended tomorrow.

Sherry

The one you picked up is actually better suited for your purpose as it is a SPST. No need to take it back.

Consensus says that the Ti UCC383TDKTTT-3G3 is the one to get... (Okay, so Shrek says it...) :)

I ordered my free samples a few days ago - but apparently everyone else on the ECF board did too.. They are backordered until late November! :-(

I stand corrected - they just showed up today!:D

I have all these things. Is there a thread with pics of how this is done? I have seen the nicostick but there is an extra battery, and a regulator here I have no idea where these would go, or how to wire them. Also this is with a 4AA box instead of a 2AA box. Thanks

LOL had to edit out the links don't have 15 posts yet.

Ok, look at your battery box. We're going to call the battery slot with the on-off switch in it 'slot 1' and go from there, ok?

Look at slot 4. At one end, you have a jumper (spring on one side, bump on the other that goes between battery slots) and on the other end, a single pad. Take out the jumpers between 2/3 & 3/4, then remove the single pad and put it where the jumper was in slot 2.

That opens up space for your switch, regulator and atomizer connection.

Wiring:

The outside of the atomizer connector and the center pin of the regulator have to be connected to battery negative (black wire going to the on/off switch).

The center of the atomizer connector will connect to the Vout of the regulator.

The Vin of the atomizer will connect to your switch.

The other side of your switch will connect to battery positive (red wire going to the single battery pad).

Not sure how to buy the ti's I set up an account and I just get all kinds of errors when I add them to my basket. Lol I've never not been able to figure out how to buy something before. Besides I can always switch it out later. Now that I know how to wire it I guess I can build most of the easier mods. I would guess that 1.5v probably equals several hours of run time huh?

+5V Fixed-Voltage Regulator 7805 - RadioShack.com

The 7805 has a 1amp max output - if you want 5v across a 3ohm atty you're gonna need a circuit with 5/3amp current.

I'm thinkin about making a 5v battery mod - might go with the TI voltage regulator or use two .68ohm 2watt resistors. - any advice on which way to go?
