It works BACKWARDS! You have to push the switch to turn it OFF!

I "un-tucked" the wires so you can see things better...

  • I ran the red wire from the contact I moved to one side of the switch
  • I ran the black wire from the box to the outside of the 510 connector
  • I ran the short red wire from the center post of the 510 connector to the other side of the switch
So either I got the wrong switch (RS 275-1548) OR I have it wired backwards.

HELP!

Oh, just so everyone knows, I'm practically a surgeon with a torch and a soldering pick (I make silver and gold jewelry), but this whole soldering iron-thing sucks BIG time!

NEVER MIND!!! 275-1548 is a normally CLOSED switch! I asked the guy at the store for a normally OPEN switch and this is what he gave me. Had I looked on the BACK of the package, I would have seen it.

Anyway, I have two 2xAA boxes ready for the 14500 batts I ordered from madvapes (hopefully they'll arrive before next weekend), so I went to RS today to get a 2xAAA to make one for the 10440 I salvaged from my passthrough just to make sure I could do this.

As the 2xAAA boxes are a lot smaller than the 2xAA boxes, I figured I'd need a smaller switch, so that's why I tried this style.

Rats!

Well, it's done...with a proper switch.

I ended up making a mad dash to RS before they closed this evening to get the switch Opus suggested (thanks Opus!)...bought a few others in anticipation of future projects.

It's scratched up, the hole for the switch is a bit too big, and it doesn't have a kill switch, but the thing WORKS!

Bigozone, I added the youtube video below just for you...while I don't do filigree jewelry (not my favorite style), it does show the use of a soldering pick with a butane torch (not my favorite torch, but it's handy for small work). Enjoy.

Anyway, this was my first mod and I'm happy...I've been eyeing stuff around the house all evening wondering if it could be modded, so the beast is loose! :D

Great concept Nicowolf and thanks to all who posted for your guidance.

Sherry

Consensus says that the Ti UCC383TDKTTT-3G3 is the one to get... (Okay, so Shrek says it...) :)

I ordered my free samples a few days ago - but apparently everyone else on the ECF board did too.. They are backordered until late November! :-(

glad I stocked up- but may be the reason they are backordered- sorry
