Yeah maybe he put something in his eliquid that was oil based (or bought from a less than reputable vendor).

I'm going to suggest that one minor illness out of all the e-cigarette users is less a less than convincing danger. Since he got the pneumonia after entering the hospital it makes me wonder if it's a mis-diagnosis of a bacterial infection... which are often spread IN and BY hospitals.
