Hey guys. I got a VTR with iClear 30s as my first device. So far I like vaping but I have a few questions, and first a story:
I feel like I have been going through coils quickly. I got a burnt terrible taste after I changed my flavour to redbull. It was so obnoxious I assumed it was the coil was burnt out otherwise the company I bought it from would never sell that flavour. It tasted like burnt chemicals and just overall gross. This was after about...5-8ml of fluid. I don't vape much (non smoker with 0nic, so I only do it for fun/when I am bored)
So I took the coil out and ran it under water and rinsed it out and let it dry (still sitting in my windowsill)
So then I put in a new coil and went about my way. Switched back to my favourite flavour and vaped on. After about... maybe another 5ml...I decided to try out the VV mode on my VTR. I had always had it on VW before. So I figured I would crank it to 5 volts. INSTANT gross... burnt. (not as bad as the first coil issue tho, more burnt and less chemically) So I switched back to VW mode and toned it down to like 7W. Took awhile but the burnt taste left. But now I get that burnt taste on and off again. After only like 5ml's... I read such glowing reviews of how people had there coils lasting a month and whatnot..and that is with 6ml a day smokers.
-Why are mine burning out so quick? (I don't really clean the coils...I just refill when it gets low with a different flavour and keep vaping the old flavour away until the new flavour dominates)
-Does running at higher power kill coils faster? I am assuming yes... I usually ran it at 8-12W is that unreasonable? I mean 5ml coil kill is pretty ridiculous. I guess if the coil is just dirty with burnt crap on it I can clean it??
-Should I be cleaning the coils? I did see a video where the guy disassembled the coil and did a dry burn and whatnot. Which leads into my next question:
-Sometimes when I am vaping I get a crackling/gurgling noise... which did nothing originally but now since the VV incident the burnt taste quickly follows the crackling noise. I think it is when I am not sucking/inhaling enough. This is like a dry burn right? Because the vapour isn't getting pulled away fast enough and the juice not getting pulled in enough?
-Should I let my iclear 30s run dry? I try to use up most of my juice before I switch flavours...is that bad? Because on a dripper (I have been doing some reading but I am still a MASSIVE noob) you basically saturate the wick and refill when they get dry right? So it can't be too bad can it? Although the iclear 30s is obviously not a dripper. But it keeps vaping for awhile after there is no fluid free flowing around, so the wicks must hold quite a bit.
-basically what is dry burning and should I or should I not do it?!?!
-VV/VW...what is the difference? I know quite a bit about electronics...isn't VW and VV the same thing? Changing the voltage will change the power on a fixed resistance (the coils). Why even bother having two modes that do the same thing?
-Back to my VV story...too high voltage (therefore power) burnt my flavour... and I have read that this happens. Too much power will burn out a flavour...but then I hear people with mods that go up to 150W!!! How does that not just turn the juice to charcoal and give you the most burnt taste ever?
-Some flavours respond better/worse to higher power right? (back to the spirit of this subforum)
-a kick basically "regulates" a mechanical mod right? A normal mech mod will give you a decreasing voltage over time as the battery dies but a kick regulates say 10w the whole course of the batteries life?
I think that is all for now...I may add more questions as I think of them, but if you read my essay this far. I salute you and thank you. I am reading so much and learning so much...but still have lots to learn
I want to flavour chase I think. I don't smoke so nic and throat hit I don't care about. But I love the flavour part of it...and to be honest the iclear 30s has me a bit disappointed...it seems on par with my friends "starter" devices...I want more performance! Ramping up wattage does make the flavour a bit better...but still.. I am already looking to rebuildables and drippers...
