A technical question if the board would indulge me pertaining to e liquid

I was a little curious as how the nicotine for the e liquid mixtures is produced. Is it extracted from tobacco plants, or synthesized some other way?

tobacco extraction, most of it done overseas. Synthetic would cost much more.

I could be completely wrong BUT, I think it is extracted from tobacco...............
