A Total Noobie Level Question.....

I almost feel embarassed about asking this because I should probably know better as long as I've been at this. Unfortunately, several searches here and elsewhere have not lead to my answer.

For several years I used eGo Twists with standard 2.5 to 3 ohm cartomizers. Recently I upgraded to an ipv D2 with a Kanger Subtank Mini.

I still have 3 or 4 boxes of the old cartos lying around and I was wondering if I could use them on the D2 at a low wattage without blowing anything up. .... Or at the very least, setting it on fire. If not, it's no big deal but I was curious if I ever got in a pinch.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can. The D2 doesn't have step down though in regular power mode. There is a workaround for that, but I'm not sure what it is (its in the D2 thread though if you need it).

Okay, what you will need to do is place the D2 into TC mode
Attach your topper with its kanthal coil
Press -/+ together and release
Set Temp to Max - 585F ? not sure
Adjust joules 10j-50j as needed (same as setting watts)

vape as normal

Will NOT regulate temp while using Kanthal

Vape safe!

Wasn't there NiChrome or something in some of the earlier toppers? Same set-up for that I suppose?

OK, I looked into workarounds for the step down and all that.
No matter what I do with it, the mod will not fire in TC mode with the cartomizer. I hit the button and it says, "NO JUICE." I put it back in VW (power) mode, dropped the wattage down to 7 (lowest setting) and it fired like normal with the carto. It read 2.7 ohms at 4.8 volts and vaped pretty well. I don't think I want to do it on a regular basis but it did work. No burnt taste and a fairly decent amount of vapor for a standard carto.
