How long did you break the coils in at lower watts?
Some of the reviewers and many ECF members in the Crown threads recommend 24 hours at lower wattage.
I used 45-55 watts for a day, yeah it was weak sauce but now I can chain hit them at 65W as much as I can stand with 70VG and not a scorch note to be had.
I'm using single battery mods so 65W with the .25 coils is ok but they cook along at 80W no problem on my IPV3.
Maybe you torched your coils?
I picked up a Crown today, and given the .25 coils felt a bit hot as expected, I asked the shop to install a TC coil. After about 3 hits, it was burned. Repeated, allowing the TC coil to soak for 15-20 min, after priming it well. The issue repeated. So after arguing with the shop for longer than should have been necessary, they replaced the TC coils with the 0.5 regular coils, SS or kenthal, not sure, hoping this would cool the vape.
However, I bought the Crown due to the combination of power and TC capability. If the coils are this much of a nuisance, I may go elsewhere tomorrow and just get an Arctic. TC coils are hit and miss to find for the Atlantis, not available yet on the SMOK VCT4. The Herakles felt warm to me, though I did not try with TC, and are local shops may have a Freemax Staare on the shelf, but no understanding of it.
As for FinchX's other symptoms, based on my short experience, I agree.....
My Kanger Mini gets some bad coils, but they are cheap and readily available, so it's a minor annoyance. However, the Kanger is a toy compared to these other tanks. Just not the same level of production.
Open to suggestions from anyone who doesn't have these constant coil or other issues with their higher-power Temp Control sub-ohm tanks. Until then, I feel everyone's pain! P.S.- the Crown does look nice and makes great clouds, drinking gallons of juice in the process. Good show, but can I live with it every day?
Have a good night,
Mike
