We attended a wedding of a kid that grew up at our house, I think she ate more here than at her own home. Anyway I brought my REO and a couple of twists, some tanks, I just loaded up knowing it was going to be a late nightand a long weekend on the road.

The reception was in a small suburb of Chicago so I’mthinking it’s going to be a hassle anywhere in this location to try and vape. We get to the reception and I look to thefloor manager and ask what the rules are for vaping. She asked me what I wastalking about, so I showed her the REO. She still looked confused so I asked ifshe minded is I took a pull, she looked at me smiled and said…..please. I hadsome good strawberry custard so I let it rip. Her response took me by surprisewhen she smiled aid “that smells wonderful do it again”, so I did and she was sold.

I didn’t know it when I approached her but she was asmoker, I explained to her as much as I could, she took copious notes and toldme to vape away as long as know body complained. After dinner I emptied my pockets on thetable, pushed back my seat asked if anyone mind if I vaped. I was sitting witha much younger group and everyone told me to enjoy. I nervously took my firstpull, I exhaled down but the cloud was too big and it drew immediate attention.People started funneling over to the table, even more so when they got a whiff of whatI was vaping.

To say that it was a smash would be a gross understatement.Only problem was I had was keeping track of my gear and trying to keep up withall the questions folks had about how to change over and if it was safe. Even some non-smokers came over to enjoy the aroma and conversation. Most of the folks that wanted to learn about the product I would say were 45 or older.

Here’s what I took away from the experience. The youngergroup knew what I was doing, the older group didn’t have a clue. Once they satwith me, tried a little (really all of my juice) they saw it as a perfect cessiondevice. Many I think are following the links I gave them today including CASAAso they could research the positives and negatives of a “better” alternative.

Now the big one, they believed the media, they had no othersource of information. My smart phone sat on the table all night with severaltabs of information at the ready. Many walked away upset with the media and our governments involvement with little or no knowledge.

Anyway my gear sat on the table, I danced and drank andfolks sat at our table reading and vaping. It really was a fun and uniqueevening. I just got home a couple hours ago and stated charging batteries andfilling tanks. I came home completely dry.

It’s a damn shame that the media has access to so manypeople and could help them get off a product that is killing them but chose togo the other direction.

Long and rambling but I thought some may get a kick out ofit.

That would make a great youtube video with the caveat "Based on a true story."

Especially when you consider the commercial about the patch where young people are in a bar and one of them asks the other if he wants to go outside to smoke. The guy then pulls up his shirt sleeve and says "Nah, I'm on the patch" and a bunch of little musicians start singing "I just want to celebrate another day of living." The guy with the patch didn't convince the smoker to quit.

In your case, you had a whole group of older folks interested and going home to research some more. I love it!

Love it! Whenever I go to a party I make sure to load myself up with a bunch of different juices and cig-a-likes because I know everyone's going to be asking me about it and want a try. I usually give smokers cig-a-likes to try out for the rest of the evening and I've converted almost all the smokers in my extended friend group this way. The best thing you can do is explain everything to them and let them try it out for themselves. You might be giving away juice for free but you'll gain a nice little posse of vapers. Plus, now I have people to place online orders with and split on shipping and we trade juices that we don't quite like amongst ourselves so it's really a win for everybody. Now house parties smell more like vanilla and strawberry than gross tobacco and you worry a lot less about someone accidentally ashing into your half-finished beer.

I'm surprised they let you vape...I wish more people would be open to it! I've had a similar experience. One smoker asked where she could get one (for her husband) and I directed them to a local shop. After the event (small graduation party) we went together. The husband decided to go all out and picked up a Kayfun, M16 clone, wire, and wick. I set up his first build, and told him to call me whenever he wanted to change the builds or try something new.
Its been 3 months now, and last I heard (2 weeks ago) he quit smoking completely and now vapes exclusively. He also dropped his nicotine content for 18mg to 6, which is astonishing considering it only took 2.5 months! From 1 pack a day, to 6mg...this guy's ability to "change" blew me away.

Very inspiring story!

Last weekend I took my GF to a pub terrace and we met this very nice couple who wanted to know what we were smoking. We explained and told them they should visit the vape shop not too far from there. We exchanged e-mails and will likely meet up with them in a couple of weeks. I'm curious to find out if they went.

Thanks for sharing this interesting story!! And what an extra fun time you had at the wedding!

It went late and I got a little fuzzy towards the end but it was a great time!

This is an awesome story! I have a wedding coming up at the end of the month. I'll have my MVP 2 by then. I'll be bringing it with me, for sure. Probably bring my egos too, for sampling. :)

Make sure you bring plenty of full tanks! I had just a little left in the REO for the ride home today.

Very inspiring story!

It will be cool to find out if you helped them kick the habit. I think all we can do is answer questions when people ask and put them on a better (and much more tasty) path.

Thanks for sharing sir! I hear ya about bad info in the media. I also try to always be respectful of others rules and concerns as you did. I have to, this is the only thing that has worked for me and I do not want to screw it up. I also believe it's important to answer any questions that might help someone else that has fought the monster as long as so many of us have. You did good! Keep sharing and enjoy the day!:2cool:
