We attended a wedding of a kid that grew up at our house, I think she ate more here than at her own home. Anyway I brought my REO and a couple of twists, some tanks, I just loaded up knowing it was going to be a late nightand a long weekend on the road.
The reception was in a small suburb of Chicago so I’mthinking it’s going to be a hassle anywhere in this location to try and vape. We get to the reception and I look to thefloor manager and ask what the rules are for vaping. She asked me what I wastalking about, so I showed her the REO. She still looked confused so I asked ifshe minded is I took a pull, she looked at me smiled and said…..please. I hadsome good strawberry custard so I let it rip. Her response took me by surprisewhen she smiled aid “that smells wonderful do it again”, so I did and she was sold.
I didn’t know it when I approached her but she was asmoker, I explained to her as much as I could, she took copious notes and toldme to vape away as long as know body complained. After dinner I emptied my pockets on thetable, pushed back my seat asked if anyone mind if I vaped. I was sitting witha much younger group and everyone told me to enjoy. I nervously took my firstpull, I exhaled down but the cloud was too big and it drew immediate attention.People started funneling over to the table, even more so when they got a whiff of whatI was vaping.
To say that it was a smash would be a gross understatement.Only problem was I had was keeping track of my gear and trying to keep up withall the questions folks had about how to change over and if it was safe. Even some non-smokers came over to enjoy the aroma and conversation. Most of the folks that wanted to learn about the product I would say were 45 or older.
Here’s what I took away from the experience. The youngergroup knew what I was doing, the older group didn’t have a clue. Once they satwith me, tried a little (really all of my juice) they saw it as a perfect cessiondevice. Many I think are following the links I gave them today including CASAAso they could research the positives and negatives of a “better” alternative.
Now the big one, they believed the media, they had no othersource of information. My smart phone sat on the table all night with severaltabs of information at the ready. Many walked away upset with the media and our governments involvement with little or no knowledge.
Anyway my gear sat on the table, I danced and drank andfolks sat at our table reading and vaping. It really was a fun and uniqueevening. I just got home a couple hours ago and stated charging batteries andfilling tanks. I came home completely dry.
It’s a damn shame that the media has access to so manypeople and could help them get off a product that is killing them but chose togo the other direction.
Long and rambling but I thought some may get a kick out ofit.
