Are you hurricane ready? By this of course I mean, water, food, batteries, flashlights, etc... but don't forget your e-cig. There's a pretty good chance of losing power, and quite possibly for a few days, so make sure to charge any and all batteries you have to full capacity in advance of when Irene is supposed to get to you, and perhaps fill a few carts/cartos (if you use them). Certainly take care of basic needs first but hopefully no one needs to go back to smoking who doesn't want to just thanks to a possibly lengthy power outage. (That is, if you can wade over to the gas station.) Stay safe!

Agreed Thank You! And zero, I live in a low lying zone in the NYC metropolitan area so I'm concerned about floods and just the fact that if we lose power, it's gonna be us and 20 million other people, so it may take a few days to get it back in the pandemonium of that scenario. YOU may have seen hurricanes before, but it's been a long time since the NE has had a real hurricane, even a weak one. Not that I'm particularly worried, it's just probably going to be a mess.

pop a carto, or a tank on that solar mod! It works!

I have some 18650, and 14500 batteries charged for my REO's and I also have a solar powered mod. It will be a bummer having to go back to dripping if I have to resort to the solar mod. As far as food, forget the bread and milk, I want the comfort foods.

First an earthquake, now this. My poor dog!

Mine too! And I second WomanofHeart; that should work fine on your ego. I also have one of those box adapters for my car that lets you use a regular wall plug which should be okay for charging things... providing I can get to the car.

My chargers are all ready. Charging up all my stick batts now - as they're only ever used in emergencies anyway. I'll be keeping my 18650s on until the last minute while rotating 14500's for my BB during the day tomorrow. All indications are that it'll start to get really nasty here Tomorrow night.

For my 2A brothers and sisters: 9mm and .223 in plentiful supply. ;)

It's almost comical watching CNN and their doom and gloom forecast. Granted, I'm up in the Boston area (not Cape Cod), and we've been through some nor'easters that make 40 mph winds and 2" of rain seem like a summer shower.

The stores are already sold out of D cell flashlight batteries (good thing there's a couple of solid LED flashlights here that take AAA batteries). I've got a camping lantern with fresh batteries, freezer packs for a cooler, and going to fill up a 5 gallon carboy with water just in case the forecasters change their mind. Aside from that? Not worried. Got a USB charger in the car for the PV and the cell phone.

I'm more concerned with how I'm going to convince my little 16 lb. spitz dog to go do her potty business outside in the wind and rain, she's quite the diva and has to have a "walk" heh.. She's gonna hate this...

Since I was born and raised in South Jersey I just want to wish all of the N Easterners good luck with Irene and hope it's not too much of a cluster f@#$.

This is actually kind of weird as usually it's my friends and family who are worried about me during a hurricane since I moved to the tropics.

I have 11 batteries charged now, 8 eGo and 3 Leo, those should last me 5 days. I don't think we will lose power for more than three days and that would be a worst case scenario. Just in case, though, I have two motorcycle type batteries that I can use to charge the batts, but I seriously doubt if I will have to use them.
