I haven't been around the forum much for ... well ... months now. Amazing what finding the perfect vape machine will do to, eh? Since getting my Reo Grand a year and a half ago, I haven't had a need to check up on the 'latest and greatest' anymore. I don't care about the 'latest' and I already have the greatest! My poor baby is certainly showing the signs of hard, continual use (it's the only mod I use). Have dropped it more times than I would care to admit - on pavement, rocks ... and I must say ... that paint job really holds up! :)

I just gave it a bath and a fresh dob of the gooey black stuff and am amazed again at just how much better it vapes again clean. It really is critical to bath these sweethearts every once in awhile. I just love, love, love my Reo!

Glad to see the community is still very much alive and kicking - no surprise there, though. Glad to see that Busardo finally gave a review on it. I could tell that he was somewhat surprised to enjoy it and be so impressed with it as he was. I'm sure there are a lot of folks out there who figure if it doesn't have all the bells and whistles and buttons and read-outs that so many of the others have, it couldn't really be all that great, right? Heh, heh ...

Anyway, I am just about ready to pull the plug on another and can hardly wait! I live in fear that someday I will drop it in the chuck or something equally as stupid and and then I would have to bring in the divers to retrieve it! Really don't want to do that so need to have my spare. I just cannot bring myself to consider these rba things as, God knows, I can screw up the simplest of things (another reason I love my Reo so much - there is nothing to screw up!).

Rob, I cannot begin to thank you for having created these. I truly believe that, considering how frustrated I was getting with everything else I had tried, I would have been dropped vaping altogether if I hadn't finally decided to bit the bullet one last time and see what all the hoopla was about with these 'Reo's' I kept reading about. YOU ARE THE MAN!! I love ya!

FisherPal, good to hear the REO is still great for you.....no surprise there! :) Since you got your REO, there has been an upgrade, so the next one you get will hit even harder and need Noalox a lot less. Let me say, too, that the rebuildable attys have taken the REO to a whole 'nother level. You really owe it to yourself to get a Reomizer (from Reosmods) and wrap your own coils. For one thing, it's sooooo much cheaper in the long run than buying attys and/or cartos. Also, it's really easy (and FUN) to wrap a coil. But, the best reason to start using a rebuildable is for the vape. You won't believe how great it is. You think you love your REO now......you just wait.

Many of us were a little nervous about building coils, but it's easy, fun, and well worth it. It's what all the big kids are doing. Ha. I'm a retired little ol' lady grandma and I love it. If I can do it, you can do it. So....while you're ordering that back-up REO, pick up a Reomizer 2.0 and some 28 gauge Kanthal wire. Then go to Walmart or CVS and get you some cotton balls and you'll be in business. Or grab some silica off the Reosmods site while you're there. Honestly, it'll be amazing. AMAZING.

And I will third that! I'm also a little ole lady and I was extremely nervous about going to an RDA, what with arthritic hands, half blind in one eye and can't see out of the other, less than a full deck to play with and just general all-around clumsiness...but I stumbled full speed ahead anyway....and I will NEVER go back to atties.

As Jan said already, get yourself an RM2, some 28 ga. Kanthal wire and, if there's a CVS store anywhere near you, pick up a box of sterilized rolled cotton...one little ole box will last you a lifetime! As a matter of fact, PM me your addie and I'll send you enough to last years..I bought TWO boxes:facepalm:...wanted to be ready for the zombie apocalypse)

There's lotsa info. and videos on how to make your own coil-wick setup.

As a matter of fact, get some wire from Rob when you order your next Reo, a couple of o-rings to set in the catchcup ( it's to help lining up the airhole away from the firing button, but you might not need it and also helps from tightening the RM2 down too hard on the 510 connector on the Reo)

Good to see you!

OMG! JC Okie and Oldbroad ... you are going to shame me into taking that step, aren't you? :p Just peeked at Rob's site and I see he has several RBA's there but, in your opinion, the Reomizer 2.0 is the way to go? Do I need the silica or will just cotton balls do? I don't know what a CVS store is - guess we don't have them in Canada. Oldbroad - you mentioned 'rolled cotton' ... now I hate to feel stupid but ... what is 'rolled cotton'? Okay ... I'm off to watch some of the videos posted above about RBA's ... sigh ... LOL. I have to admit that it would be nice to not have to buy the atties that I use although they work great. And I'm getting a little low with them so now would be a good time to take the plunge (trembles at the thought).

and there are NO stupid questions when it comes to vaping our Reos! PM me your addie and I'll be more than happy yo send you some.

SuperxDrifter ( Russ) has videos on how to make them...very clear and concise as are all his videos. He's now touting Ko Chen Do pure cotton so I ordered some of that!

No need for silica...tho lots of folks use it. I had to stop cuz I could taste it even when the wick was soaked..I don't taste the cotton at all.
I personally feel that the RM2 is a topnotch RDA and I love the concave base as I tend to over-squonk so the excess just takes itself right on back down the tube, and the posts are not close together...good for my poor eyesight and clumsy hands...and Rob makes them!He also has two different finishes, the silver and the brass.

Trembling is okeydokey... we all do that in the beginning! But once you taste the full flavor of your juice and see the plumes of vapor you'll never look back.

And we're all here to guide you if needed.

Go for it girl, you won't be sorry!

P.S. and the RM2 is much cheaper than other ones and Rob is a first-rate hands-on kinda supplier!

Yes, it's great to see you back :). Congrats too.

Nervous? I was prolly the most nervous, "no way I can do that" type out there about RBAs when I finally took the leap of faith just over a year ago. Look at me now. I'm a coil building freak of nature and the vape I get from these simple methods is out-freakin-standing. Every push of the button is a consistent, reliable amazing vape. Much better than a carto ever was.

Ju can do eet meng. :)

Edit: Kay, I'll get that Koh Gen Do in the mail tomorrow :)

Thanks for the link to the cotton, oldbroad. NOW I know what you are talking about and can easily get the same thing here. Just needed to know what the heck I was looking for. :)

Wow - when you're away for so long, you kind of forget how great this forum is. Everyone here is so amazing and helpful! Another question ... I assume I can get just the regular Grande and don't need to worry about the LP Grande, right? The LP is for sub-ohming, correct?

super-X-drifter - I'll be going to youtube to hunt down some of your videos on this whole coil thing too! Although your pictures in the stickie above is pretty darn good, too, but I like to see things 'in action' ... LOL.

Have to wait until after next payday to top off my PayPal account enough (especially if I am going to spring for the whole RBA thing now!) but ... I can fell a change a-comin' ...

FisherPal, the regular Grand will be fine. Make sure you order a regular Reomizer 2.0, though, to go with it. The LP (low profile) refers to the catch cup. On the LP Grands, the catch cup has been milled down so that other rebuildable atomizers will fit on it. Some of the other rebuildables are too fat to fit down in the standard catch cup. If you intend to stick with the Reomizer (RM2,) then you don't need an LP. Also, if by some off chance you don't like the RM2 (won't happen!) the regular Grand will work better for you with regular attys and cartos. The sub-ohm thing......actually, with the recent upgrade of internal parts, they are all equipped for sub-ohming, should you choose. Rob just changed out the material that the switches are made of to be a little more conductive.

Just watched super-X-drifters video on rebuilding! GREAT video - it's taken all the 'fear factor' out of the whole process. I only have one more question (yeah right!) ... I read about people talking about the different 'ohms' with rebuildables. How do you know what you are vaping at? The atty that I use right now is 1.5 ohm and I really like that level. Does it depend on the coil size, number of wraps? What makes the ohms go up or down?

Thanks again all! I have now gone from 'not in your life!' to 'can hardly wait to try it!'.

Actually ... let me read some of the stickies above - I have a feeling they may answer most if not all of my questions and probably a couple I hadn't thought of yet. :)

FisherPal, great post. I was tempted to write it myself but you've beaten me to the punch. I've had the reo for almost a year now and haven't even been tempted to try anything else. My provari has only been used for an ohm meter since July of 2013. My tube mechs lie in a drawer forgotten and neglected.

I would just echo the opinions here regarding the rm2 or any decent bottom fed rba.

Reo + rm2 = vaping nirvana.

cheers

I used cartos for almost 3 years and went to the RM2 in February. There is a learning curve to wrapping the coils, but if you have a craft store, get one of these and it's sooooo simple - they are perfect every time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyfVH2iuQwA

Well that's pretty darn cool. I'll keep my eyes peeled for something like that. Thanks for the tip!

You don't even need that fancy gizmo from the craft store. Here's a vid of how Robert makes his (many of us do too). Couldn't be any simpler, and they last weeks if not months.

Rebuilding a basic atomizer coil 30 gauge wire

And welcome back, you won't BELIEVE the difference the new contacts you'll be getting will make :)

I watched a video super-X-drifter posted so will now watch Rob's. Now I'm actually getting excited about getting my vape on with a Reomizer!

And thanks to everyone for the big 'welcome back'. This is truly the best forum on the board!!
