So I just did my first rebuild on my A7 :D and a couple questions came up. In a video I watched the guy turned the posts to line the holes up the way he wanted them. While I decided that wasn't worthwhile because they didn't stay in place, I discovered in the process of doing this that the whole base with the posts turned like it was unscrewing. Does this mean I can get spare heads so that I can have a spare coil already set up to just screw in if I blow a coil or want to change resistance?

I'm also discovering that the 1.5 ohm I had in mind to start out at isn't giving me the vapor I was looking for, so I was wondering at what resistance level you start running into the safety concerns I keep hearing about with sub-ohm. Am I okay as long as I stay at 1 ohm and up?

Finally, is there some reason it actually needs to be that tall?

the base plate screws out so you can clean the entire unit, threads and all. i suppose if you bought a spare A7, you could indeed have it set up easily for a swap. there are no spare heads per se, but you could indeed set up a second plate (although you might as well just keep the entire second A7 intact rather than worrying about unscrewing the plate).

safety concerns are evaluated by determining your battery's C-Rating, which will give you the max # of amps you can safely pull off your battery, once you use the below equation. then you use ohm's law: plug in your coil resistance and voltage and viola, bobs your uncle.

i think it was you who mentioned you were using a vmod. if youve got the 2.0 like me, youve got a 14500 batt in there. AW IMR 14500s have a c-rating of 8 i beleive. then you use the equation:
(c-rating x mah) / 1000
8 x 700 = 4800 / 1000 = 4.8Amps
it can handle 4.8 amps i beleive. and at 4.2v with a 1Ω coil, you are within the safe range.

..oh and yes it kinda does need to be that tall. any shorter and youll likly get hot splashes. i use a stubby drip tip to reduce the overall height and it works great.
