thank you, i was at radio shack ,when your reply came in, sry. i ended up buying a +5vdc voltage regulator non adjustable , 1 amp , it has three legs , i notice the pictures from madvapes the regulators have 4 legs , will the one i have work for me? it has thermal overload protection, stable output current, up to 1 amp out current, output transistor safe area protection and internal short-curcut current limit

The problem you are going to have is that most of these atomizers pull at least 1.5 amps. That regulator is probably going to be underrated. Also by using this type of regualtor, you basically are wasting energy in the form of heat and you will probably get less battery life. What you need is a switching regulator but Radio shack doesn't carry them from what I've seen. Search the board for switching regulator.

As far as the 1 amp regulator from radio shack, give it a try and see what happens. We only hit these things for 3 to 5 seconds most of the time. It's either going to work or get really hot and shut down. You may want to put a heat sink on it to try and keep it from shutting down.

Throw it out. don't waste your time. You need a reg with at least a 3A rating and low drop out voltage. Those 7805's need about 7V to output 5V, a TI UCC283T or 383T will give you 5V with the batteries at 5.5V.

At 5V a Joye 510 is gonna want about 2.4A.

Many of the so-called 5V tube mods just use a resistor to dissipate some of the watts. Just a pair of 3.7V batts and this should be close.

1.0 ohm 10W 10% Wirewound Resistor (2-Pack) - RadioShack.com

A smaller 5W version will also work.
