Okay I did some shopping around for a B&M supplier in my area. I was surprised to find a handful with professional looking websites. I know that businesses run by older people may not have the best websites so I don't judge on that alone (but I'm always wary of businesses with unprofessional looking websites).

Anyway this little baby caught my eye.

Black Matte 1100mah Ce4 EGO Kit [500_Black_1100Ce4] : L Js E-Smokes, Electronic Cigarettes

KIT INCLUDES

(1) Battery, Manual Switch, 1100mah
(1) 1.6ml Ce4 Clearomizer (color may vary)
(1) USB Battery Charger
(1) Empty Bottle with Blunt Needle tip
(1) Instruction manual
(1) Leather Gift Box

While I don't think a leather gift box is necessary it may be nice to have. Also with the price for a similar separate batt at 15 bucks I was thinking that this at 28 might be the way to go. This businesses juices are priced at 5.45 for 10mL and 13.45 for 30mL (I checked out the juices they have a 50/50 pg/vg mix).

So question time for the more experienced vapers, if you were to buy your first rig today would you pick up this?

Also I asked this in my introductory thread but it doesn't seem to have been answered. I've done some research on the coils in attys and most are made with a nickel chrome alloy. I do have a slight contact allergy with nickel. I can't for example buy cheap wire framed glasses unless they are wire coated, but I've had no problem with say stainless steel on wrist watches.

That said I've not ever put nickel in my mouth (that I know of--there might be nickel in tobacco smoke along with 6 million other chemicals) so I have no reference point as to whether vaping with such a coil may present a problem. So has anyone heard of a nickel allergy being aggravated by vaping? Or had a allergy based upon the atty/carto coils?

Hi Abe
Don't know about nickel wire. Some chemist will be along shortly.

I did notice that your kit only contains 1 battery. You need at least 2 batteries to start. Otherwise, what are you gonna do while your only battery is charging? You may smoke some cigarettes. Not a good idea. So get 2 batteries, ok?

Yeah I planned on throwing in at least one battery on top of the kit. It would be cheaper that way then getting the kit with two batts (by about 10 bucks actually). As for what I'd do if I only had one batt...I'd probably smoke my pipe (which is what I smoke instead of cigs, though I used to be a pad Camel guy).

I'm kinda hoping the nickel thing will be unheard of or rare. Its a very slight allergy, I've only had problems with glasses ear pieces and nothing else.

That's a new one. I would think it shouldn't be a problem since the nickel isn't heated to a temperature that would cause it to flake or disintegrate in any way. So there should not be any actual contact with the nickel. Good luck though. I hope this helped.

Hum...well I personally wouldn't think that the coils get hot enough for the nickel to contaminate the vapor either but I don't know.

the Nichol on the coil wire should not be a problem, after some use it will carbon up.
as for the kit not a bad kit for the price, add extra battery, prices for the juice are reasonable, i have vendor here in town 20 dollars for a 15 mill bottle.a little pricy....
50/50 is a thick juice, so will need extra coil/wick heads for that set up also as those style vaporizers tend to burn coils with thick juices.

Dug up this old thread about nickel allergies on the forum:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/39824-low-nickel-nickel-free-atomizers.html

Apparently, GreenNicotine e-cigs do not use nickel.

I'll have to check out their website then. Hum according to that thread several people have not experienced problems with vaping with nichrome coils. Islande's allergy seems to be many magnitudes more severe than mine. It probably isn't a problem for me then...but it is something I should be aware of to bring up to a doctor should I have an allergic reaction. Thankfully I'm not allergic to much of anything other than nickel when it is in constant contact with my skin (like cheap wire glasses) though pollen seems to bother me a bit (but it isn't a full blown allergic reaction). No food allergies that I know of--I can and will eat anything.

Why do I get the feeling I'm not going to walk out of there for less than a hundred bucks?

Basically my shopping list so far is

1 kit (seems to be rather good, and reasonably priced)
1 batt same type
1 juice sampler (15 mL of juice)

(already 60 bucks plus the taxes)

CE4s for replacements. (unfortunately I don't see them on the website...thankfully their office is very close by to me).

Definitely two batteries. As people have said, one to use while the other charges. And batteries do fail for no reason, so a backup for the primary at minimum.

Expect a single clearomizer to last 2-4 weeks on average. And those things can be kind of wonky. Sometimes they stop working after a couple of days, and others can last 6 weeks or more. So have a few handy, you can use more than one at at time to try different flavors in, too. Variety is the spice of life.

If it was me, I'd also find a USB/wall adaptor so that you can charge your battery when not near a computer's USB port.

Looking at just getting into vaping, that's not a bad intro kit. The battery has a nice capacity so it won't go dead on you in 3 hours. If you use it like you would your pipe (assuming you don't use your pipe constantly) it should theoretically last you a full day. That being said, a second battery would be a good idea. I will echo getting another few clearomizers.

If you want to really give it the good ole college try, try it right. Can't go wrong with a good eGo style. Many people use these on a daily basis, including myself, with good success.

Hi Abe,
No
I dont consider that a good price for what your getting.
Last time i looked, for $43, you can get 2 KGO batteries and 2 clearomizers at Welcome to Hoosier E-Cig - The Best E-cigs, Juices, and accesories
Or Joyetech kits for slightly more at VaporCigzz.com
Or check the vendor list here on ECF
IM days short of 8 months with Joyetech batteries and they all still work.

Yikes Abe!
I just realized that kit doesn't contain a "wall wort" to plug the USB cable into the wall.

So you're gonna need another battery & a wall wort & some more clearomizers & some juice. So maybe it's not such a good deal after all.

As the previous poster mentioned a Kgo kit for $43 from Hoosiers might be a better deal. It includes everything I think. I loved my Kgo kit. It served me well for 8 months.

Hi Abe !

Everyone posting above has said just about what you need....
But- I will add one more thing that was important to me, (besides extra batteries)-

I would buy 3 or 4 different types of ejuice.
(here we go spending your money )

You might find that you like one right off...but variety is the spice of life.
I thought I would get a 'bacco' flavor- tried six...didn't like any of them !
(sent them to a desperate new vaper on ECF)
Found I like 'Coffee' vape in the morning, then on to fruit or butterscotch or carnamal apple !
In the evenings- at home, I vape my DIY jamacian 10 speed or strawberry shortcake, or some other concoction !

I think you will do well.
Best to You !

Abe. I'm in Florida too. :) Over here in the Treasure Coast...the RIGHT coast of Florida. LOL

Got any brick & mortar vape shops near you?

I'm on the Space Coast. And after doing extensive research for e-cig shops. One is in Titusville which is just too far for me to drive with the ability to order things off the net. This vendor's retail store however happens to be in my neighborhood less than two miles from me. There is also an other vendor at the Daytona Flea Market which I'll check out too. My SO wants to go there some time in the near future and visit the Pickle Man.

ETA: I will also be visiting this particular vendor's retail shop some time tomorrow. Never hurts to window shop.

Its going to be more expensive initially. Just look at it as two to three cartons of analogs and you'll be fine (;

Yes I was planning on getting a couple sampler packs of e-juice. My feeling about e-juice is that I'll eventually graduate to making my own juice anyway (assuming that I never quite find the right one, and the chemistry isn't too hard for being a chef, DIYing juice seems to be akin to making sorbet, you have a set of four or five ingredients what changes is the proportions). And that it would be easier to buy small bottles while looking for a basic all day. The best comparison when it comes to taste I've ever heard about juice is that it is a bit like ice cream. You have hundreds of flavors in four basic styles premium, standard, cheap, and home made.

Over all I was thinking about getting a reletively standard tobacco flavor and two non tobacco flavors. Probably a fruit and a coffee.
