I think I'm just not that good at wrapping yet... Only 3 of the wraps out of the 6 are glowing. How do I stop that?

with or without the wick in? if its with te wick in then just move the wire around a little and fire it until they all go. Just need to fiddle around with them. or just yank out the eko wool, grab a cotton puff ball and rewick it :) roll yourself a piece the fits nice but will still slide in the coil. soak it before you fire it up and enjoy

Yeah.... Nothing I build into it seems to wick properly...

I really want this RDA stuff to work out..

Ok, so ditch your current build and try a micro coil with cotton. use a 5/64 drill bit to wrap your coil and put the wraps as tight together as you can, when done pinch the coil together with pliers and torch it until its red and hold for a few seconds. that will make sure the wraps all touch and stay. install it and check with your multimeter if there is a short and the resistance. if all is good fire it up. take a piece of cotton puff ball and roll it and install. stick one tail under the coil and the other between the post above the coil. soak with liquid and wait a little. fire it up to make sure it works and enjoy. lots of thread here and videos on youtube to show you how to make them. IDk how many wraps it will take for you to get 1.8 ohm with 30g probably start with 8 and see what that gets you then adjust from there.

Keep consistent tension as you wrap, and try not to bend the wire unnecessarily (kinks/bends can cause metal fatigue, and thus, hotspots), and like sawtoothscream said, you want the coils wrapped as closely together as possible.

Also, if you don't have a torch you can compress the coils while installed. Just pulse the coil until its nice and red, release the button and use tweezers to gently compress the coil. Make sure to hold it until it cools off and it will keep it's shape. Also, don't try to compress the coil while firing the device, shorts are bad mmkay?
