You misunderstood what I was saying... ie...A SS mesh setup will taste different than a SS rope in taste usually. Same goes for SS mesh and cotton or SS rope and cotton and so on... A lot of people say there is a big difference between cotton and silica. Some don't like either of those and use Ekowool. Some don't like that and recently have been using XC-116 or XC-18 silica from Nextel. It is a braided silica wicking that is capable of withstanding much more heat than regular silica. For instance, you can dry fire it and it won't burn, whereas cotton and regular silica will burn or singe and then you will have a burnt taste when you vape. I myself don't care for silica and haven't for some time now. I use SS rope w/ SS mesh between the rope and wire. The mesh helps it wick better at the coil and helps to eliminate hot spots on coils. I have ordered some XS-18 silica sleeving to try on my SS rope setups as I have heard quite a few people say that has the best wicking for the rope with no taste from the silica sleeving. As to the differences between an RDA, (dripper), and an RBA, (
tank), the only real differences I have found is the obvious, a
tank on the RBA for holding liquid, and mesh or rope doesn't wick very well in an RDA... There are some people that use SS mesh wicks in their drippers, but I have never had any luck with getting them to wick well. I have used cotton wicking in my RSST and there was no difference in taste from my Igo-L. I hope this clears up some of the confusion you had...
