Can they be charged on anything but a USB cord? I can't charge on my computer because it goes to sleep before charging is done. I'm still very confused about charging items. I have ordered a car charger but need a USB for it to work. Why?

You have to use the USB to charge it, but you should have a wall adapter that came with your starter kit. You can change the settings on your computer so it won't go to sleep before it's done charging.

My 510 kit and the PCC I had didn't come with a usb wall adapter. You can buy one here AC Wall to USB Adaptor if you want a 500mah one or here 2 amp AC to USB Adapter, ideal for Passthroughs if you want one that'll run a PT too. I've also seen them at Walmart in the computer section for around $7 so you could try there too.

For the car, for the life of me I know I've seen them at Walmart and autozone. A plug that converts one cig lighter to two or more and includes usb on it.

I use these - I don't charge anything off my computer. My batteries are all standard mini slim cylindrical batteries (which each need 1/2 amp aka 500mA of power to charge, and my PCC also need 500mA to charge. A passthru often need 1 full amp.) I hook up any combination of those as long as the total mA needed does not exceed 2amps which is what this adapter provides.
