Hi,
I've been vaping for 6 months now. Started out with greensmoke. Loved them at first but got bored after a while and wanted to try something else. I know in the last year, they have been getting worst reviews than before and I agree their product is degrading in quality (burnt taste, carts not lasting as long and batteries with short lifespan). So with the industry rapidly growing, I thought I would give something else a try. Since you 'officially' cannot refill e9 carts from greensmoke, I at least wanted a more common model like an 808 so I can get cartos from different vendors. Logical.
So after reading good reviews on Smokeless Image VOLT, I ordered. My frustration however when receiving my new kit was that the draw wasn't as tight. It's like pulling through a straw, which isn't very close to smoking an analog in my experience. Now I know there's a getting used to period with vaping, and I think I got it in the 6 months. I know the technique is different but the resistance my greensmoke cigs had when puffing was close enough. The VOLT however is WAY TOO 'loose' (can't find a better word).

So if anyone has tried different brands t ocompare this specific issue, or have tweaks and tips to fix this, please share your experience. I'm curious to know if it's the same with most mini models. Or for that matter, bigger models as well and mods?

thanks
seb

Hi Seb, Welcome to the ECF. Give this a try. Unscrew the carto from your battery, Take a look at the two/three/four groves that are cut into the rim edge of the carto where it touches the body of the battery. Those are you inlets. Screw the carto back onto the battery. Take a piece of tape or your finger and cover one. Take a draw. Closer to what you where looking for? If so then make that your stopping point, if not then cover a second one... etc..... I know exactly what you mean by "loose" and thats the right descriptor as far as I can tell. I had one setup that was "loose" and covering one hole with a little piece of scotch tape was the fix for myself. Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

I currently use Green Smoke. I find that my longer battery burns hotter and sometimes burns the liquid. To help reduce that, just tighten until it won't go anymore and then loosen just a tiny bit. I find the long ones have a stiffer draw that I don't like and I rarely use it since I ordered a second short battery. Another thing is that if you over charge the battery all the time, it will decrease battery life. I still use my original short one from almost a year ago and it's fine.

The original cartomizers were far from great, but I have nothing bad to say about their newer Flavormax Carts. Unlike the originals, they will retain their flavor right until the end. The new packaging seals each individual cart which I think extends the life.

Unfortunately, I just had an order turned around at Customs after sitting there for almost a month. This is the first time in almost a year this has happened but I'm still panicking with fear that the CBSA may have caught on to Green Smoke. I ordered a second shipment a few days ago and will have the old one sent out again. Fingers crossed...... I'm thinking about a 510 or similar for times when my Green Smoke order is held up.

@Iusedtoanalog. Thanks for the quick and dirty hack. And in general I'm all about that kind of lifehacking. The problem is, when you pay for a kit from a company and know there is ALOT of competition out there, I would've hoped to land on hardware that is satisfying without having to tape the catos twice a day. After a couple days, I realized the manual long battery I got was more to my liking but I kind of went back to my greensmokes. I tried to hack the battery instead so I wouldn't have to worry about it ever again but it doesn't seem to work.

@mikeproctor : it is so subjective. how do you tell if the next one will be better or if it's just the way they're made...? I guess I could send the whole thing back.

@Rochat658: I'm canadian also and just got charged 15$ of S&H + GST from customs. WTF. Also, I would love to find the eliquid equivalent of the Tobacco Gold Flavor from Greensmoke. It tastes really good.

Between the wife and I we have 12 batteries. The two I sent back were way more airy than the others and both had a terrible hit. Kinda like sucking on a straw.

Hi Again Seb, I agree with the other posts but communication here is of the utmost importance. Give your vendor a personal call or email. Explain the issue and ask if they could test some for you to ensure they work as intended. After that you will want to arrange a swap of equipment with what you have and what they KNOW works like it should. If you get the new equipment and its the same kind of issue then you know its time to find something else that does suit your tastes. There are so many options available to all of us this is the paradox which we all face. So with all the knowledge you have available thats all the advice I have.... except when you find the "one" get backups for your backups...lol. Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

Thanks for your input guys,
I guess I could try to swap them but by continuing to compare my 2 brands logic tells me it's a question specific to different models. The 808 has its air inlets on the cartos AND battery, as for GS, there are only the ones on the battery tip, so it's more air tight (at least it travels a while longer). I know I got used to that first model so it's hard to adapt but the difference is HUGE. Not sure what i'll end up doing as I don't want to spend so much on new kits all the time. I might start a poll on the model with the tightest pull ;)
