I am no battery expert but found some info that high drain batteries are not protected. Is that true? I fear that unprotected batteries might explode in the provari. Does the provari prevent that? Has there been any cases?
Also worried about being a finger print magnet. Does the regular color attract fingerprints? Is there alot less finger prints left with the black one?
On batteries I have been researching and it seems like getting the extended battery cap is worth it. Just wondering should I get 2 or 3 batteries? Are the batteries and the charger on the site not incredibly overpriced and good?
Sorry if any of these questions where answered before. I have been researching the provari for about a week. Just had a few more questions before I spend over 200 on a mod. Thanks

I have the regular one :) and I have no problem with fingerprints...

Extended battery cap is worth it - but if you're at home... It may be nice just to have at least 1 regular 18490...

I have 3 batteries - 1 18650 and 2 18490.... For right now maybe only 2 are needed....

supertmanufacturing had good prices on batteries btw - I got my 18490 from him - quick shipping too.

IMR batts are considered safe chemistry batts and don't require a protection circuit unlike Li-Ion batts which do require having a protection circuit built in. IMRs could vent if shorted but will not go up in flames or explode. I believe that the battery protection is one of the features built into the ProVari.

Also worried about being a finger print magnet. Does the regular color attract fingerprints? Is there alot less finger prints left with the black one?
The only ProVari that might be a fingerprint magnet is the chrome version. I have the original finish on mine and it's totally fingerprint resistant. The finish holds up beautifully IMO.

That's really up to you and it comes with a tradeoff either way. I prefer maximum performance in the smallest package possible even if I have to change my batts a couple of times during the day. I'd rather carry a smaller PV with a spare battery than a larger, heavier PV. Just my thoughts.
I have three AW IMR 18490 batts which I rotate. ProVape's prices on this batts are pretty good especially since you will be getting free shipping with your order.

Those are good questions worthy of good answers especially considering the investment. Congrats on your choice! ProVari rocks!!!

I own a black ProVari; I have no finger print issues with mine.

I ordered two 18490 batteries and two 18650 batteries with an extension cap. I felt I would primarily use the bigger batteries with the extension cap and ended up mostly using the smaller batteries. However, that may change as I'm mostly only vaping at home and believe that I will use the bigger batteries with my ProVari when I’m away from home for longer periods. I'm glad I bought two of each of the batteries, as being able to rotating the batteries is a plus.

Thanks for all the help. You guys helped alot and thanks. Just making sure I got everything right.

Even though the batteries are unprotected they are safe because they are made of a different material? The people on the chat here really do not like unprotected batteries. But am I guessing they are different then regular unprotected right? And they are safe to bring an extra one with me in my pocket or do I need to get a case for the extra battery?
Provape sells the batteries for a reasonable price and it is the best to get the version they sell right? Big batteries and small batteries need a different cap, so I would have to bring the cap with me if I want to bring around a back up battery?
Get 3 now so they last longer by rotating them or just get 2 and by the time they become bad there will be better ones out there?

Both the normal and special edition black coat does not show fingerprints but they have the same internals right?
Is it worth 60 bucks in gas to try out a provari or just get one I will be happy? I have not seen any reports of unhappy provari owners.

Again thanks for the help :) Going to order my provari soon.

They're safe!!!! Anyone who says otherwise is not familiar with this type of battery! While they are available elsewhere, you might as well pick them up from Provape when/if you purchase a Provari. Buy the optional end cap and two or three of each battery. Options are always good. Ultimately, the decision is all yours and you should take other peoples opinions with a grain of salt. Most people love the mod they spent their money on and aren't easily persuaded that something better exists. I've used so many different mods I've lost count and since receiving my Provari back in January (I think), I've not had one issue and I still think it's the best VV unit on the market. Just one man's opinion in a sea of opinions!

I agree! Nicely put...

Just to add, it is not advised to carry batteries, protected or unprotected, in your pocket especially if you have coins, keys, or any other metal objects in there. It's best to store your batteries elsewhere just to be safe.

And they are safe to bring an extra one with me in my pocket or do I need to get a case for the extra battery?

I would recommend carring batteries in a case.

Provape sells the batteries for a reasonable price and it is the best to get the version they sell right?

Yes, I purchased mine from ProVape.

Big batteries and small batteries need a different cap, so I would have to bring the cap with me if I want to bring around a back up battery?

The ProVari comes with a cap to us with the 18490 batteries, however you may choose to purchase the bigger 18650 batteries that would require the 18650 battery extension cap. The 18650 batteries have a higher mAh rating than the 18490 batteries, this higher mAh rating means the battery will last longer before it needs to be charged again.

You can take your ProVari with an 18650 battery and extended cap attached and carry an extra 18650 battery as a backup in case the 18650 battery doesn’t last you while you’re out, then just swap it out. One fully charged 18650 battery should last you all day, however YMMV. I would always carry a spare, just in case.

You can do the same with the ProVari using the 18490 batteries and the other cap that comes with your ProVari. just carry an extra 18490 battery.

Get 3 now so they last longer by rotating them or just get 2 and by the time they become bad there will be better ones out there?

Having three batteries in rotation in lieu of just rotating two batteries should extend their life. However, I don't feel it's that much of a difference that it really matters.

I purchased two of each of the batteries, your choice on this one. I’ll most likely order another of each in the near future.

I’m not sure if better, future batteries would be recommend for use in the ProVari.

Both the normal and special edition black coat does not show fingerprints but they have the same internals right?

Yes, same internals.

Is it worth 60 bucks in gas to try out a provari or just get one I will be happy? I have not seen any reports of unhappy provari owners.

I’ve always preferred to hold something and check it out before purchasing. However, I feel that if you drove up there, you would have wished you just ordered one. Then again if I was that close I would have probably drove there just so I could have my ProVari sooner.

My :2c:
