I had the same issue. After they wore in a bit I started to investigate and found that the cart filler really does not need to be as close to the top of the cart as you might think. Mine have the filler pushed down about a mil or two. Also, I would find stray fiber from the filler trapped between the bridge and the bridge wick that were heating up and burning. A pair of tweezers and a good bright light and they were good. Be careful that you aren't seeing things like string that you are pulling out, those are fiberglass and part of the atty. It was just a tiney stray poly fiber.
I think the biggest thing I learned is that when you think they are wet they probably aren't. I haven't gotten any cart
mods to work and I am basically dripping four or five drop onto the filler when I start tasting poly.
Even after all that I am ordering some Boge carto's tomorrow, Just sick of topping off carts.
