Right now I have an istick 20w and can't sub ohm with it. I didn't think I would want to get into sub-ohming, but not getting tons of flavor on my juices or have to drag a bit to hard. If I got an istick 30w can I do both on that device? I just want the option for certain flavors as I much prefer to above sub-ohm on my tobaccos. Don't want anything that is sub-ohm only or above, want both worlds. :) I'm talking about the eleafs.

IMO, Your problem is not the mod........ It's the atomizer you are using...... Whuch you don't state. Istick 20 does down to 1ohm, sure. But then untill 1 year ago, only crazy vapers vaped below 1 ohm. Sure the 30watt would let you go down to .4ohm and a 40w TC will do .2 and TC. But unless you address the atomizer issues, you will solve nothing.

What are you using for an atomizer??

Well The VG is going to have issues wicking with the PT3 and VG is KNOWN to mute flavor. I would suggest trying a Nautilus tank, more flavor and can handle a bit more power than the PT3 also has better airflow and wicking. I could never push my PT3s above 10watts. Even when built with twisted wire single coil. If you want a bit more air, you could try a Subtank type atty with above OHM coils. Or dive into the deep end and get something like a Kayfun, or other Rebuildable tank.

most regulated mods can go up to 2 ohms; some of the older ones from back in 2013 used to go up to 3, 4, 5 ohms

You might try the 1.8 or even 2.0 on the istick 20 with the PT 3. The 20's run a little hot, I have better luck running a little higher ohm coil in them than what I would use on some other batteries using PT or aero tank. YMMV
I do have some clearomizers from my ego stick that I will use occasionally on the istick that are 2.5 ohms, but don't very often. I like using my tobacco blends (that will only use in the clearomizers because they are plastic) on my ego stick still.

The Air should do you well. If you don't like lung hits, you'll gain no real benefit from subohm. If you want to move up, I'd go with the iStick 40TC, myself. But I don't see any need for it, you'll probably be under 20 watts with the Air, too. The answer to your basic question is yes; if you want to subohm, you need more power. 30 is marginal but functional. 40 brings a lot more to the dance. I'm vaping an SX Mini with an Indulgence MT coiled .3 ohms, and it is set for 40 watts, although it will go a good bit higher.
