My first e-cigarette starter kit arrived yesterday, the Firelight micro, which I've since discovered here may not have been the best choice, but the package deal seemed good and it seems to work OK. I'm a 40-year or so 1+ppd smoker, in the last 15 or so years Marlboro Medium 100s (often wishing they were full-flavor Winstons of old, but trying to be disciplined about my tar intake). I honestly have no idea whether I want vaping to be a fulltime substitute for smoking, an as-needed supplement, or a quitting device. But I've been curious...

The Firelight came with its default pre-filled high-nic cartridges, and I figured I was the kind of smoker that would want that. Looks like maybe not. After a series of normal drags (OK--maybe a series of normal drags by somebody craving a cigarette after a few hours without <g>), I developed a bit of a headache and wooziness that remained for hours. Slight nic overdose? Well at least I know the thing works. <g> Should I ramp down on the nicotine or try to get acclimated?

Flavor? This concerns me. This was supposed to be their tobacco-flavored cartridge option, but I notice a pretty distinct flavor of what I think is pineapple and I don't like that. It worries me that other compounds I might have high hopes for will end up disappointing. After all these years, I love the taste of tobacco as much as anything about smoking. So, I'm interested in juice recommendations for me (even as I click around and see quite a few of them).

Thanks

Hello and welcome!

I got the dizzies too. Just work though it. It doesn't last long. You body has to adjust to a different nic level as I mention below.

I posted this on another thread:

I did this with the full expectation to quit smoking and eventually quit vaping too.

I have smoked for 41 years. Since age 13 and now I'm 54. I was smoking as much as 2-3packs a day. I hate analogs and was trying to find something to quit with. I had tried the patch, gum, inhaler, chantix and another drug and none could do it long term. My wife doesn't smoke and I wanted to spare her the crap too.

I bought two Joye 510 kits, one for my son. I received it almost 48 hours ago and I haven't smoked since!

When I ordered I also got one 24mg and two 18s. My son smoked two analogs yesterday but he's using the 18 and he only smokes a pack every two days. The juice I got doesn't taste too good and it burns my throat. It's Dekang and PG. I'm going to get some good stuff like Rath and will try Mrs. T and others that I see highly rated on this forum and go with a VG or VG/PG mix. I got a pint of PG at Wallgreens with the eye toward mixing my own with some VG I can get a Wally World. Maybe use a 60/40 mix. But I'll mess with that later after I get some vape recipes.

I told my bud about it and when I brought it in to work yesterday he was convinced and he and his girlfriend are going to order kits this weekend

I'm vaping a lot at 24mg but I know that my body will adjust to that level and then I'll drop to 18 then 12...... I figure I can get to 0 nic in 8-12 months and at some point just stop.

Yeah, that tobacco flavor, it's a tough one to find. I think the Halo Freedom, Halo Harley56, and the Rath are pretty good.

I was in the same boat. Love the taste of tobacco. That is why I always smoked non-filter.

Of course I have a Ms T's flavor in now, something I couldn't even understand doing when I started. Her carrot cake has me re-thinking my notions on what flavor I want to vape.
Good luck! I also helped my son kick the habit by giving him a Joye 510 kit.

Isn't the Firelight a knockoff of the M401? The Firelight kit I saw online looks pretty identical (including the chargers) to a $10 dealexteme M401 knockoff that I have. Anyway, enjoy your new e-cigarette and don't sweat that it isn't "the best". As long as it is performing for you and you enjoy it, that's all that matters. When it stops performing for you, buy another. A 510 kit around the cost of four packs of smokes, so not a huge investment. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks all! Just ordered 30 ml of Health Cabin's 18mg Winston (although Chinese New Year will delay its arrival... :( ). Looks like the woozies are a temporary phenomenon as my body seeks its comfort level.

Yes, there will be a delay but at least they gave us a heads up on it.
I hope you are pleased with your choice as I am.

My recommendation is to note those shortcomings of your current device and use that information to shop for a new device that will better satisfy you. If you want to sup[lement tobacco smoking, that is easily done with your current device. If you want to quit tobacco smoking, you may need a more robust device and a change in your mindset. Quittin g tobacco is among the most difficult addictions to break.
