Hey guys,

I've been dipping chew for about 11 years and i'm looking to switch to vaping. The only thing is, i'm completely clueless on where to start. I've tried researching online and looking at different things but it's all Greek to me.
I dip about 3 cans a week, was told to get a box mod and get liquid that's higher in nicotine to start out. That's all I've got for knowledge. I'm not looking to break the bank (saw those Provape sticks O_O) so any knowledge ya'll have would be awesome! I don't think i'd be in to the huge clouds, but it might be kind of fun later on down the line.

Thanks and happy to be here!
Hi DD I'm new on ecf but have been vaping for 2 year.. Like you I have dipped most of my life. I started on a starter pen but would not recommend them because of the very thin vape. One of the first mods I tried was the kanger subox min.. Very small 50 Watts. .5 ohm coil.. Very easy to use. Only thing you need to buy extra is 18650 battery everything about 90 dollars at a b&m shop . The juice is up to your personal tastes. .good luck and welcome . By the way I still dip but I enjoy my new pasttime

Okay, so while waiting for the build i ordered the other night, i went to a brick and mortar and picked up the 40w Mini Volt. It's good, too pricey to buy from a B&M again...or ever... but initially it was pretty harsh to take drags, but now it seems like i can rip a pretty good drag without thinking about it. I haven't smoked in about 7 years. I got a 50/50 pg/vg, the coil is .8oHm. Nicotine feels okay, but I'm wondering about high mg. Seems like i'm plowing through this 10ml bottle pretty fast.
Thoughts?

What atomizer are you using? (What's holding your juice)
What mg strength are you using?
How many watts are you running it at?
Sorry, but you need to give us specifics to help.
Yeah, sorry about that.
It's just the mini volt 40w starter kit that i'm using. So just the default tank that came with it.
Picked up 12mg but i'm thinking i need higher mg.
i'm fluctuating between 30 and 40w.

Ok cool.
So since i've already filled the tank and have just been refilling as it gets close to the bottom, say i want to try a new flavor. How do i go about that? Just vape what's left and then fill with the new juice or do i need to swap out the cotton?
That will totally depend on you. There's no "rule" here. When I switch from one fruity flavor to another similar flavor, I just sorta overlap them. For instance, if I'm going from a strawberry blend to, say, a mango blend....I just pour out (or vape out) the strawberry then pour the mango in and, keeping the same wick, let them blur a little until the mango takes over. I've actually discovered some cool new blends that way. If, on the other hand, I'm vaping a fruity blend and want to change to a black coffee flavor (I don't like any sweetener in my black coffee,) I'll rinse out my bottle or tank and change the cotton out so that none of the strawberry "taints" my black coffee. It's just a personal taste thing.

I tend to not mind a little overlapping and blending on most juices. They go pretty fast, so the overlapping, blended taste period doesn't last too long. And like I said, sometime that overlapping blend is quite good.

Short answer: no, you don't have to change it all out unless you want to.

I'm running 50/50 thru .5 ohm also. Its not the ratio as much as the subohm that's blowing thru your juice . Once you settle on a juice you like, buy in 30 ml. My favorite juices only come in 50/50. It's just the nature of the beast with subohming

So then is .8 ohm more than .5 ohm? I guess i really need to learn this stuff!

0,8 Ohms is more resistance than 0,5 Ohms, yes, and they're both 'SubOhm' by virtue of the fact that they're both below 1 Ohm resistance.

The 1 Ohm barrier isn't an absolute limit - it's not like all heads below 1 Ohm drink juice and battery power and all heads above are more frugal - it's a linear relationship.

The whole 1 Ohm above/below limit is a holdover from the days of when one needed mechs to fire low resistance coils at higher power - it remains as a handy signifier of relative coil resistance.

The lower the number, the hotter it is . For lack of a better description, the more powerful the coil is. The lower the ohms, the bigger the clouds and the more juice it will burn. That's just generally speaking. There are a lot of factors in play. Don't worry, in time you'll pickup on the little nuances.

Clouds will only create more enemies for vaping. Just get enough steam to get that good hit. I use a 15 watt vamo and a 20 watt svd2. (I love tubes). I use a 1.8 ohm coil and a .6 juice. I started at 12. The 12 has a stronger hit; but causes a nicotine O.D...[emoji2] for me.

Of course..every person has their own preferences and tolerances.

Yes, you have to experiment to find your own preference. Do you want a tighter draw like a cigarette, than a higher ohm device and higher nic level may be right for you. On my device at .5 ohms, 18 Watts and .6 nic. is my sweet spot. I started at 1.8 nicotine.
You'll have to experiment where your juice taste best. I'm not a cloud chaser, I just like the airier vape from the lower ohm coils

You have been answered on this but I can tell you running .8 ohm at about 18-20 watts will lower the juice consumption. That is what I run my subtank mini at. Also you should be able to make your own coils and wick it yourself which would save you even more money than running stock coils. There is a lot of info on this here. You tube videos are plentiful as well so you can see it being done as well. Hope this helps and any questions, as you can see, just ask. Hello and Welcome to the forums by the way!!!

well i gotta say, this kanger sub tank mini and fuchai 213 is the beezneez! The 40w mini volt i was using before is nothing in comparison! The flavor and drags are just so much better with this other tank. I think i'm hooked! Thanks for all the help guys!
I am glad you have a solid starting point. I wish I had discovered this forum when o started out.
