Looking into passthrus, my first one was pretty weak, VV at 3.2, 3.6 and 4.2V, but would shut off at higher currents. I was planning on making a passthru and using a 2A wall charger, but would like a VV option. I saw these wall adapters on digikey, Digi-Key - T1107-P5P-ND (Manufacturer - EMSA060300K-P5P-SZ)
there are other adapters but this one is 6v at 3A. then perhaps an one of the TI "evercool" regulators and a voltage display....definitely gonna give this a try in the near future

A hobby store, anywhere that sells supplies for RC model airplanes or electric race cars, should be able to supply and assist you. I bought mine at a second-hand store for $2.99. I'm amazed that other vapors make electricity and a switch sound like some newly invented system that only a brand name can produce.

The electrical schematic for a basic e-cig and a flashlight look amazingly similar!

They will turn off if you go over their amps which is very easy to do with LR carts, I would never use anything less than 3 amps and all mine are 5 amp just so I don't over work them with my preferred HV vaping. On all my PTs I use 12v in with 5 amp sources which you can buy for less than $15 on ebay.

I also wanted to do this but i would need to build the pt or spend 60+ dollars on one that will handle 5+ volts. Since I dont want to spend that much I went online and after hours of digging trying to word my search to yield the result I wanted I found this.
Sima SUP-60LX Sima universal ac/dc digital camcorder and camera charger
It's equipped with a usb connector making it very simple to convert into an ecig power supply. Vapormoon.com sells the saber touch with pt option that uses this, I didnt know what they were called so it took ages to find them.

Here is one you can build for $20 just change the batt holder for a 2.1mm plug or use both. Up to 35v in.

BJ i'd like to know more about that, what are the electronics? is that custom?
edit: read your thread, to clarify i was curious about the display. is that all one board?

Yes on the last ones I bought the display is installed on the board. Very simple mod and I have been using the LM2596 on many mods for over a year and they work great;

Ok, so here is what i came up with. I'd show the inside but its not very pretty. I'll clean it up eventually but i threw this together in about 30 min just to get it working. It uses a 9V 3A AC adapter and a Texas Instruments PTR08100W adjustable regulator. theres a 10K potentiometer in there but i drilled the hole too big and it would really be better to use a trim pot but i havent found one i like. It works like a champ!!

goes all the way up to 9V, the display cuts out under 3V but thats ok.
