rounding third and heading home...
I check my account everyday and today 3 charges show up- one from Hong Kong, Dublin, and N.Y.. I do a lot of on-line buying and lately with a certain Asian vendor that shall go unnamed(because I can't prove anything and I won't name anybody until I DO kinow). this is the 2nd time since March and I am stymied on how to stop it. I love my vape gear, but if this is going to keep happening I need to figure out another way. I have enough hardware but juice is another story- anybody know a better way to purchase and not get burned again? there are no B&Ms locally ,so I don't have that option. they were clever using the holiday weekend for a little extra time. luckily I check constantly and prevented probably more losses. be careful out there.......:(

I have a CC with a 300$ limit. Its my online card I have been got I call them they put a hold I fill out a online report they send me a new card Im out nothing.

I also have a online only Debit card for larger purchases. I keep 50 $ in this account unless I use it then I put what ever Im going to use in it.

This account has been hit also same process but a little more of a pain in the rear dealing with a bank but the end result was the same I got a new card I did not have to be inconvenienced much by having the my main accounts froze. Each time I was hit I did not lose a dime. Just a little time on the phone and fill out some reports and all was good.

EDIT: I turn down almost monthly them trying to give me a larger sum on my 300$ CC I keep it small for a reason.

Plus...run malwarebytes, have a good antivirus [AVG Free, Avast Free, Microsoft Security Essentials] (keyloggers are nasty critters)

I have all the anti -you-name-it software you can have- don't believe it was gotten from my end. it is the companies software I am suspicious of........

I have to agree here, but it is not always fool proof. My sister recently had here card number stolen. Well a keylogger had got past her AVG free and then prevented it from updating. I ended up having to use a bootable antivirus CD to get rid of it as nothing else would detect it. While on occasion a site could be hacked to get your CC number more often than not its your own PC that is compromised. The fact that it has happened to you twice is a huge red flag to me.

I've been got but I've only used us vendors so it can happen to anyone. I didn't loose anything, my bank called me! And I know it was a cig vendor because I hadn't used that card to order anything else.....

how does it work?

BoA ShopSafe creates a virtual credit card number for an amount that you specify. It expires in 2 months (or longer if you want). You put in the amount you want that particular "card" to be good for and that's all it will be good for period. It also generates the three digit verification code for each virtual card you create. Then you just copy and paste the card number, enter the expiration date and 3 digit verification when you check out on the site you're buying from and PRESTO the card with that number is done.

I usually round the amount up to the next dollar so when the transaction is complete, there's literally only a few cents left for the hackers on that particular card number:p It's the ultimate "peace of mind" when shopping online. I believe it's available to any BoA credit card account holder.
