It's been a long week and only half over... Was washing my work clothes and forgot to check my pockets so I washed my Smoov automatic battery..

So is it now a lost cause or will it dry out and still recharge and how long should I wait to try, or just give it up as a lost cause?

Feeling really stupid and annoyed with myself,

I haven't had this happen to a evil battery yet, but I have done it with a cell phone and various small electronics. What I do is as soon as I can I drop the item into a bowl of uncooked rice, this will draw the water out of the device. I usually leave it in there for a few hours, but I'm usually dealing with larger devices with more places for water to get trapped. Give it a good shake (which I'm sure you already have) drop it in a bowl of rice (oatmeal works also but is way more messy) and leave it in there for a few hours. If it was completely dead when it went in and you need to charge it BE CAREFUL!!! Seriously, charge it only if you can have it in your field of view the entire time. Let it go for an hour or so and hook it up and see what happens. Also remember to check any air holes For lint, If its an auto battery the lint could keep It from activating. Good luck.

Kirstinr, place it in a bag with dry white rice for 24 hours.
If it's salvageable it will work after that.
I've washed cell phones, ego batteries, and my car remote once. Rice dried them out right and they worked.

Sorry about your luck. :(

I have heard of that. I only once droped my TV remote into the dish suds. (I dident my most wonderful Hubby did). Its cool if it does work.

I let the battery sit in rice for 2 days, took it out and it seemed fine - attached a clearo it it, tried it (it worked) and then set it in a holder with the clearo still attached. A few minutes later I hear hissing and popping as if I were vaping so I look at it and the LED is on even though I haven't touched it. End of story - not keeping this battery as I'd rather be safe than sorry!
Moral: check your pockets twice!!

Whistling TAPs as I take the very clean battery outdoors until I can find a place to recycle it,

Some simple silly comments here.
1)An e-cig auto battery is more than just the lithium battery. It is also the case and the circuit board plus wires.
Comments about not reusing a lithium battery that has gotten wet are comical at best. The battery itself is sealed and will no more let water in than let chemicals out.
2) Circuit boards can cause real headaches when exposed to water. Unlike batteries they typically are not sealed and water can leach into all kinds of places. Type of water can even be a factor.(mineral deposits/soap/etc.)
Power should be removed<hard to do in a sealed unit> Part should be thoroughly rinsed in deionized water. As much water as possible immediately removed - Canned air works. Bagged in rice for minimum of 24 hours.

The Ops battery and Tube are probably fine - unfortunately the switch is probably short damaged at this point, or water is bridging contacts.
If unable to disassemble properly, best to discard and replace with new.
