Note: Adapted from a review I did on another forum. BHT added for freshness.

So, I had a bunch of 510 atty's lying around. I had just shipped off the rest of my batteries and chargers and stuff to an ex trying to quit, and made a mental note to pick up a dedicated 510 mod. In the course of a feud on this forum, I realized the AdapteveR would probably be the perfect REAL battery holder for the 510.

Placed my order. Had order confirmation and shipping notice THE NEXT DAY. Keep in mind, I placed this order the beginning of the week and I'm holding it now. That's damn impressive.

The design speaks to me. It's simple, so there's less to go wrong. There's no solder, it takes a protected 16340, screws together tight. The only potential failure point I see is the switch, but it's a good quality high durability usage item you can pick up for next to nothing at any Radio Shack. Even better, instructions for easily changing the switch yourself, AND A SPARE SWITCH are included.

I'm not going to do some ......ed video where I almost KEEL OVER from the vapor. It's a gosh darn 510. Getting 3.7 volts. It will hit exactly like any other 510, just for much much longer because of the much better battery. And it does. Imagine your 510. Imagine it not stopping for you after 2 hours. Imagine it not stopping for you after six hours. There. That's the AdapteveR 510.

You'd think you might HATE the switch on the bottom, but it becomes completely natural very quickly and you aren't even thinking about it. Makes me want to design a pinky activated gun, or chainsaw. Imagine your pinky getting strong. You would win all pinky wrestling contests.

*The* most impressive feature about this thing though is the one thing I was not expecting. The overflow catch at the connector threads. This is one feature of the Prodigy I absolutely love, and a feature I absolutely kick myself for not including in my favorite homemade mod because I get juice on my hands sometimes. The addition of the "catch cup" was smart, and I praise it.

The only real gripe I had was a gripe nobody but I would have, and that is it felt too slick and shiny, so I ran some emery cloth over it to give it a satin finish. I like that on an all metal exterior you have to grip. There's also the possibility of pocket button activation, but that's easily remedied by unscrewing the atomizer before you put it in your pocket.

Summary:

Great product, fair price, fast shipping, Outstanding vendor. If you like your 510, this is a great way to do it.

Okay... I'm out of the loop apparently...

What can you tell me about this? I'm intrigued. Is it from a vendor? Where did this come from? A mod? (insert curious face here with question marks)

Thank you!

Tiz a mod.

You'll also need to get some batteries and a charger. I got a cheap 16340 kit and charger from froogle.com.

Interesting, however for 100 bucks i'd rather grab 10 batteries in manual and automatic varieties and keep a few in my pocket when on the go. But thats me.

I hear what you are saying. But your batteries are going to die for good long before one of my 16340's. Also, you are swapping yours every 1-2 hours and I'm not caring for at least 5 or 6. One 16340 for 5 bucks is equal to three of your 510 batteries for close to twenty. In the long run, the 120 dollar investment will pay off while providing a lot less battery swapping annoyance.

Food for thought.

NOTE: Added a pic at the top of the review. This is what an AdapteveR looks like if you do my emery cloth treatment. I just took it apart, removed everything but the aluminum bits, and "spun" it in my hand in some emery cloth idly while watching a movie. Comes out with all seams perfectly matching, and a soft satin finish that feels great in your hands.

Get some emery cloth, or another really fine grit sanding paper.

Take the adaptever apart, removing the switch, battery, and atomizer connector so you just have the aluminum parts.

screw those three pieces back together snugly

wrap the sanding paper or emery cloth around the adaptever loosly and hold it in your hand.

Using your other hand, spin the adaptever in the sanding sleeve.

Don't apply much pressure, let it spin freely. Let the sanding paper do the work. If you are getting fatigued, you are using way to much pressure or doing it way too fast. Just do it idly while watching a movie.

After a while, it will have a perfect satin finish, all seams will match up perfectly, and it will feel nicer in your hand.

Will this work the same and look as good on the Silver Bullet? Your AdapteveR looks sick!

I'm sure it would, but the SB is ungodly shiny, and you get good grip on it and it feels nice just because of the size and the button placement and "divot". I'd feel bad ruining that shiny finish.
