Just recently I've been put on Adderall by my doctor. I've had ADD my entire life and it's been interfering with every aspect of my life so I got help and medicine.

I began taking it two days ago and noticed an insane urge to smoke/vape, so I've been puffing away on my e-cig much more frequently than when I didn't take the medication.

I read online that people smoke much more on Adderall.

I can't help but feel relieved to know that I started E-cigs at a good time, because if I didn't, I'd be chain-smoking e-cigs!

Anyone else have this same circumstance? I know ADD medication is used by many people.

Is it making you hyper and nervous? I've heard that if you take Adderall and don't have ADD, that it can make you hyper or really energetic. If you do have ADD though, it will calm you down. They were going to put me on Adderall for energy because I have an adrenal gland problem that makes me tired. My nephew is on it and it calms him down though.

Just a thought!

adderall is usually used for people with adhd because it's amphetamine and dextroamphetamine and allot of people with adhd feel the opposite affects of drugs, but everyones different so even if you have adhd don't count on it helping you out at all. givin how addictive it is and the fact that it's making you vape more, i would see if you can get something else to help with your add. but it's deffinetaly a common thing, every time ive takin adderall i was wired and smoking more then when i drink even.

My son used Adderall for a number of years, and it always had a calming effect on him. If you're noticing something besides that, you should check with your doctor. Some people don't benefit from Adderal, and get switched to a different med. That said, I've heard of ADD/ADHD predisposing folks to medicate themselves with cigarettes for their calming effect. In any case, the doctor is who you should be talking to :)

Nicotine is highly beneficial to certain neuroligical disorders, such as: depression, parkinson's, anxiety or ADD/ADHD. That may also be why.

Adderall calms me down. I don't get hyper or anxious.

I'm not a hyper person to begin with, I just have a really hard time concentrating. My mind is always going elsewhere. I day dream a lot and eventually start thinking about bad things about myself. I also feel really bad about myself when I can't be a part of the class or a conversation because all the information that is being spoken is being bounced off of me due to my concentration issues.

I know that it does make people hyper and tweaked out if they don't have ADD, but that's not the case for me. It's a great medicine if used properly, sadly it's abused by many.

Most of you probably don't like to hear this but American doctors give you way way way too fast hard drugs. Adderall is sooooo bad for you I myself have/had ADD and got some NON prescription stuff which don't harm your body nor your mental state of mind like adderall does. I won't be able to get it in most heads but what American doctors give you here is just insane and will most likely harm your body in the long run big time. Just my 2 cents to this as a European

lol gotta agree there, i blame pharm companies mostly. making oxy 80's that you can peel the coating off with your finger... giving adivan to anyone who walks into the doc saying they have anxiety problems, i actually had to go to the doc because of an anxiety attack and i walked out with a script for 20 adivan... not exactly a good drug, especially after i told her i had past issues with drug abuse. i don't understand why she gave em to me, not that i was complaining but i shouldn't have gotten em. i think if the drugs work thats great but it shouldn't be so easy to get them, and they shouldn't be so easily abused, the abuse isn't usually a problem with the manufacturing of the drug but it is sometimes, like the whole oxy thing. adderall has a high possibility of abuse even if your using them for the right reasons just because of what they are and how addictive they can be, there are plenty of other drugs out there that can be used in its place.

I'd admit that being subscribed drugs tends to be about verbal communication. Someone who tries hard enough can get medication when there isn't anything wrong with the person.

When I mentioned concentration issues to my doctor she referred me to private psychologist. I could even use my insurance for it, I had to pay out of pocket 75 dollars.

The psychologist was picky about small things. She asked me the most obscure questions and then relate them intricately to how they relate to ADD. I was really blown away how well the psychologist handled the appointment. I bet she could see through people who had a drug seeking behavior or didn't have ADD.

From my personal experience, I felt that the overall medical system was great. The doctor didn't just mark off ADD in a checklist, she actually referred me to a specialist to see if I had ADD.

I didn't even know I had ADD, and I never mentioned ADD to my doctor.

I'm just happy that I got the medication I needed.

From what I've gathered, ADD medicine such as adderall can have very severe consequences to ones health, but if taken as directed it won't have these consequences.

Also It's recommended to take the medication as you see fit, being that if you don't want to take it on weekends, or times you don't need concentration help, don't take it.

They call them "Drug Holidays", and yes, they are actually called that lmao.

maybe your psych was good but there are allot that aren't and just try and pawn off drugs till they find one that solves your problem. but if its working for you thats great. just be careful with it and try to avoid taking them very often if at all possible addarall is easy to get addicted to and drug addictions aren't fun..
