I work at a karaoke bar where there are mostly Asian customers. Most of them smoke a LOT. I'm constantly surrounded by cigarette smoke even though I have ceased to smoke. I do use my e-cig a lot at work and have customers asking me what it is regularly. Anyone who is interested, I'll usually let them try if they want. Most just ask me why don't I just smoke cigarettes and I tell them I've quit and that this is healthier, in which half will respond with "No I hear thats way worse for you", and the other will just nod and say its interesting, but probably have no interest in trying to obtain one for themselves. The ones who think its worse for you, I'll ask them where they heard it from and try to explain that all the chemicals in cigarettes are way worse, but they don't seem to care too much. I won't try to argue with them, just a waste of time and they won't remember anyways.

I also have a good friend who is a smoker but everytime we hang out, she will ask if she can use my e-cigs. She seems to like it and I really think it could work for her. However, she is not tech savvy, does not have internet at home to research and buy stuff online, and even though I told her she could come over to my house one day and I'd help her choose some stuff to buy, she hasn't shown any interest beyond just using mine. I'd buy her a kit but... she makes more money than me and if she really wanted one, she knows where to find me.

This reminds me of the saying "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink it." I try to put myself in their shoes, and maybe their thought is "here we go again, another holier than thou fanatic trying to make me feel inadequate because I smoke. They're even invading my smoking area!" LOL

Vape on and let them ask you what is that thing you're smoking. Most of all, don't try to give them a hard sale.

It has been said already in this thread . The fact is you don't convert anyone to vaping . Only they can decide to make the switch. I agree that when we are bound to our addiction to tobacco, even $50-$60 is a big expenditure for something we may look at as another product to waste money on that probably won't work because nothing else ever has .Besides ,they may feel that that is a carton of smokes(or close to it).

For me , the deciding factor was , when returning back to work after being furloughed for three months and seeing that out of 12 smokers only two were smoking and 10 were vaping. These were guys that continued to smoke indoors after state law made that illegal. They smoked indoors even though the non-smokers objected. Some went out of state to buy cigarettes much cheaper than Maryland .While I didn't agree with this intrusive behavior, the point is that these were people I never envisioned stopping tobacco use . Yet here they were vaping blissfully. That is when I knew it could be a viable option.

Best way to peak curiosity is to be visible. You can't get the word to those who may be interested yet uninformed if you are worried about what others think you are puffing on. I've read many posts by those concerned about looks ,stares, etc. We cannot be self conscious .No one likes pushy people.Don't push. Be accessible to those that inquire. Be visible. If it means vaping with the smokers occasionally even though we'd rather not ,do so.

If you want to be informative and helpful, be around potential switchers. As with any addiction, you can only help those that are ready.

I have cut my costs more than half. That is a good argument, but still doesn't work for a lot.

I have cut my costs to around $8/month for juice. New equipment as required, say $50 every 3.

Having said that its taken 7 months of spending. I'm not saving money, but that's not what got me vaping. ;)

I think I've actually spent more. Considering usually 3-4 packs lasted me a week, I didn't spend TOO much on cigarettes. However, I find that I enjoy vaping lots of different juices and trying new equipment, as opposed to my occasional Marlboro Menthol Light pack, so it's been kinda costly for me. But at the same time, I do see it as a tasty hobby and I enjoy and have fun with it. And I see it as helping myself and we all know that's worth spending money on. :D

You dont! Trying to convert someone who's just not interested gives us a bad name. Its kinda like those people who knock on your door every saturday morning "spreading the word". Let them approach you and if they start spouting misinformation calmly educate them but thats all you can really do.

I would be in the same place as you if I'd quit buying new things to try, but I'm still saving so can't complain.

That's part of the fun! :D I love gadgets and tinkering, learning new things. It really has become a hobby for me! I've had to put all the "new gear" purchases on hold for now though! I am still one happy vaper though! ;)

I'm probably going to die from communicable diseases, but I'm always willing to let someone give my pv a whirl if they have any interest.

Since you can get Captain Trips just by being in the same room, you're pretty safe from most things. Getting a cold is the biggest danger.

Maybe you could carry some alcohol wipes? Or disposable tips.

I don't try to convert anyone. I believe in leading by example. I let my friends approach me, and then i fall all over myself trying to help them. :)

But they have to show a desire first.

BINGO! Got thirty v-verts using this methodology. I also let 'em know that there is no insurmountable vaping issue if they truly want to quit 'bakky. Just let me know the problem and we'll get it resolved.
