I honestly don't understand John. Everything you need to do is using the functions of the ECF forum editor. The forum should look the same on a Mac as it does on a MS, that's why I don't see why there would be different instruction for a Mac than a MS. The only thing not involving the forum software is downloading the picture to your computer, which it's a basic JPG, so that should be the easiest part. I have a MS computer, so I'm sorry I can't be of more assistance. Maybe someone from the ECF admin could help you is the ECf help area. Sorry! :(

When you download from the link Kristen put up you get a web page. Could it be that any of you tried to upload the web page instead of the jpeg? I have been trying to reproduce the problem I had the first time I tried it but haven't been able to. Following Kristen's instructions just seems to work. I also want to see if my signature is still working after redoing the whole thing.

banner test take 3...

3rd time's a charm. OK, good instructions. The hyperlink you have on the screen shot doesn't work for some reason but I linked to casaa.org.

On a Mac, when you download the banner, you get 2 banner images which is why if barfs and says "invalid file type". Not sure why that is...

Sorry to be such a PITA but greatly appreciate the help Kristin!

I may have found the problem. If you open the jpeg on a mac it adds meta information and the file becomes to big for the forums signature limits. If you don't open the image it seems to work OK on my system. But is may be that newer version add the meta information even if you don't open it.

Kristen, if you think it would help I can give you a smaller jpeg.

But it's only 65 x 400 pixels - the size limit for ECF. That's pretty small. Any smaller and it will be too tiny to read! LOL!

The link in the screen shots wasn't complete, John. (It's missing the .asp on the end) The actual link is what I posted in the first post: casaa.org/member.asp but casaa.org is fine, too!

It's a 20K file. If I open it it becomes a bit more than 24k. The limit for signature is 24k. Other macs may add even more. Depends on how the system is set up and what application It's opened in and how much compression is used and what meta data is added. For instance color profiles may be added to the file making even bigger. I don't have to make it physically smaller. It can be compressed more or colors can be reduced. Passably another format such as gif or png.
Maybe just putting a warning not to open may be enough and then see how that works out.

Weird - my original graphic (that I created on my computer) is only 16.3 KB.

Great job Kristin and being a member of CASAA for me, is a must for us all. I put the link in my sig because I love seeing everyday how many analogs I have saved myself from. I will add the CASAA pic in my avatar picture after the Packers win the Super Bowl. Can't screw around with Vince until the trophy comes home!!

I made a smaller version of your signature and replaced yours.
When I drag this one to my desktop it is the original 8k
When I drag yours to the desktop it is 20k
I can bring that down 20k to 12k at the same size and no noticeable loss of detail.
I also wanted to get your instructions to the top.

Be proud of all you do as a CASAA member and spread the word - add the CASAA banner to your signature! (See my signature below for an example.)

Click this link: Download CASAA Signature Banner Here

Right click and save the image to your Desktop. (JPG file)

Open the Settings in ECF

Click Edit Signature (in left column)

Scroll down to Signature Picture section and click Browse. Find the image file on your Desktop.

Click Upload button. Wait for upload to finish.

Click Insert Signature Picture.

Click Save Signature.

To link banner to casaa.org:

Drag mouse over the code text in the signature editor (says SIGPIC][/SIGPIC) to highlight it

Click Insert Link button (world with chain link in editor menu)

Paste this link in the popup window & click OK: CASAA | Member Signup

Click Save Signature

OR

Save the file to your Desktop, upload it to a photosharing site and add it as an image in your signature editor.

Thank for promoting your CASAA pride!!
