Adding a rubber grommet to create a "gasket/seal" safe?

I'm tired of my bottom coil VE3's and Kanger Evod's gurgling and leaking. I saw a trick where a guy took the rubber grommet off of another coil unit and turned it upside down on top of the one that faces down over the coil/wicks, so when it is screwed into the clearo, it creates a nice tight seal on the stem. It works great, and I'm getting no leaks or gurgling however it pushes the pre-existing rubber grommet down tighter over my wicks. Is there any risk of this rubber heating up and melting? I don't really want to inhale melted rubber. Would I taste it before it got to that point? If this isn't advisable then I'm going back to top coil designs with long wicks...never had any trouble there.

I haven't tried the evods, but if the gaskets are silicone rubber they should be fine. I have stuck with top coils, and have found they work best with short wicks, unraveled and fluffed out. The action of taking a vape is enough to feed the wicks, never had a problem.

I just remedied this problem. I went and bought another ismoka mini ($12 a pop but worth it) and an old school top coil CE4
