My aim with this thread is to make a circuit out of discrete components without having program a micro controller so someone that would be new to mod building and interested in a more ground up approach could just through this circuit in and also have it take up a space amount of space.
I've come up with a concept circuit which involves adding a third switch transistor in series with the gate of the mosfet gate pin.
So what you would have is:
+V----master----push button----biased transistor---Mosfet Gate pin
Now what I have done is come up with the following circuit

So the idea is using a zener diode with a breakdown voltage of 3.3. Anything higher than 3.3 should allow the transitor conduct to the gate.
Problem is I want this circuit to be a little bit simpler because I understand that getting a zener diode of a breakdown 3.3volts maybe hard to find in the drawers of poorly stocked radio shacks. So the next step would be to come up with a voltage divider at the base pin of the transistor using a potentiometer which a radio shack would definitely have.
Also as side note, I know it would be easy to acquire the parts from the internet to make an over drain protection circuit, I want to try a simpler approach so no need to wait for parts in the mail, just go out and get them and built it.
