If I have a juice that just needs a bit of sweetening (like a bitter coffee flavor) is it okay to do this? I buy the concentrated liquid (E Z Sweetz) from Amazon for sweetening drinks and in cooking.

Absolutely you Can.

In fact, this is what Pushed me into doing DIY. Not being able to find Retail e-Liquids that were Sweet Enough for me.

But a Word of Caution before you start adding a "Sweetener". Know what you are Adding.

Many Sweeteners say that they are "Sucralose Based". But all that tells you is that 1 of the ingredients is Sucralose. The Best example of this is Splenda. Which Most people believe is Pure Sucralose.

Splenda usually contains 95% dextrose (D-glucose) and maltodextrin which the body readily metabolizes, combined with a small amount of mostly indigestible sucralose. Sucralose is made by replacing three select hydrogen-oxygen groups on sucrose (table sugar) molecules with three chlorine atoms. The tightly bound chlorine atoms create a molecular structure that is remarkably stable.[15] Sucralose itself is recognized as safe to ingest as a diabetic sugar substitute,[16][17] but some Splenda products may contain sugars or other carbohydrates that should be evaluated individually. Research as of 2003 suggested that the amount of sucralose that can be consumed on a daily basis over a person's lifetime without any adverse effects is 15 mg/kg/day,[18] or about 1 g for a 70 kg (150 lb) person. This was revised downward in 2008 to 9 mg/kg/day, or about 0.6 g.[19]

Splenda - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Why is there only about 5% of Sucralose in Splenda? Or Other Sucralose Based Sweeteners? Because Sucralose is Hundreds of Times Sweeter that Table Sugar. So to make the Volume the Same at the Same Sweetness Level, they are "Bulking" agents and Fillers.

My advise if you want to use Sucralose is to Buy it from a Web Site that Sells e-Liquid DIY Supplies. What they Should be selling is Pure Sucralose that has been Diluted in PG and or Water.

I would recommend getting your Sucralose sweetener from The Flavor Apprentice as it is pure sucralose diluted in PG. EZ Sweets is not pure sucralose and contains preservatives (Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Succinic Acid and Citric Acid), so it will most likely gunk your coils up quick and potentially yield a rather bitter or acrid taste over a short period of time. I've heard plenty of people recommend EZS, but I've never understood why due to the additional chemicals being present.

Some e-liquids do have Citric Acid in them to give them a sour note, though the others are preservatives and do not below anywhere near e-liquid.

I agree with Johnathon. I make my own liquid sucrolose from powder. Its easy and affordable. I use sucrolose in the kitchen so I have a dual use for it. I mix my powder with distilled water and keep in the refrigerator. It can be mixed in pg or vg as well.

The EZ sweet does gunk up coils. Pure sucrolose (mixed) does not gunk my coils. :)

EDit: changed Splenda to sucrolose to indicate my mistake of wording.

Where do you buy your Powdered Sucralose? Do you have a Link?

Thanks, I DO know that Splenda is quite adulterated - with sugar. I don't use it in food for that reason. And Sdh, what you said was actually different. You say you're using Splenda? I'll look at The Flavor Apprentice, thanks.
I am using sucrolose that is used for manufacturing sucrolose liquid. It can be obtained on Amazon and some diy vendors.

Ecigexpress.com sells sucrolose powder.

If you with with TFA, the 1oz bottle is going to last you for some time. It's super sweet. I bought a 4oz bottle (via their wholesale account) a while back and to date, I've not even put a dent in it. Normally 1-2 drops per 5ml of e-liquid is more than plenty. Anything more and I find that it tends to cake up up on the coils (especially true for lower ohms).

The stuff the SDH linked you too will work as well, though if you're rather not mix it on your own, grab the stuff from TFA. If you don't mind heating PG (which can be done in short 5 second bursts in the microwave - preferably in glass, not plastic) then you can buy what he linked to and mix it on your own.

How do I get an idea of any sort of sugar-equivalence from this stuff?
I really like the idea of using it though.

Generally, I start with 1-2 drops per 5ml of e-liquid. For me, that's more than enough without becoming overly sweet to the point of being sickenly sweet. Some e-liquid recipes call for quite a bit more, though like anything, too much can overpower and ruin an e-liquid, so it's best to start with a little and work your way up to your preferred level. Like most things e-liquid, give it some time to works its way in. So if you find you don't like it immediately, let it set for 12-24 hours and shake every few hours just to make sure it's thoroughly mixed up.

Sucralose is supposed to be about 600x sweeter than normal sugar (think Dominos as an example - that's the most common brand here in TN), so that's why it doesn't take much.

If anyone is interested I have a chart I copied from a low carb group.
They tend to use a lot of sucrolose powder.
