Ads in Videos

I place ads in my reviews. The money will be going to ECF, when I make enough. If it weren't for ECF, I wouldn't be doing reviews, and I use it's forums to post my reviews. If it weren't for ECF, many of us wouldn't have this knowledge, nor would I probably still be vaping.

If someone doesn't like my ads, then they can block them. But, I am a supporting member of ECF, and believe in giving back. If someone doesn't watch my reviews because there are ads, then it is fine that they don't. Heck, most people don't watch them anyway.

But, if someone isn't supporting ECF, and has issues with a few ads in my videos, when I spend hundreds a month purchasing items to review, and I support ECF... meh, who needs 'em.

I love it. If it wasn't for ECF I'd still be hacking on analogs all day I-tell'yawut! I think it's important to give back to the community. I'm going to check out your reviews too.

I use Firefox and Chrome, and use the add-on/extension AdBlock Plus, with both of them. Haven't seen an ad online in ages, because I've always used ad-blocking software. If people want to go for ads in their videos, I say, more power to them. I think people doing reviews with the expressed intent of getting free stuff...well, I wouldn't give them much credence. Reviewing stuff isn't a career, and I don't see how it could add to your credibility to review stuff, if you don't pay for most of it.

I definitely see where you're coming from there. When it comes right down to it, I need to constantly buy juice, cartos, atomizers, accessories and replacement batteries. It's the mods that I can't afford to buy more than once every year or so. I don't intend to keep mods that are given to me to review, they will likely either be given away or I'll be paying for ones I just can't part with...but as long as my mod keeps me happy and suits my current need I won't be buying more and as a result there won't be reviews on the next best thing unless it's offered to me to evaluate.

Keep a few. I kept at least one of each style, just as comparison items. The others, I am giving away to my subscribers.

I think you would only make enough to maybe buy a box of cartomizers every few months .... so it doesn't seem worth it IMHO.

I spoke with someone about my giving the money to ECF, and they suggested that CASAA may be a better fit. Since I already support ECF, and will continue to, CASAA may be a great way to donate the ad money. What do you guys think?

I have to agree with Basil on this...it has the potential to ruin your rep and your rep is worth more then the few dollars you'll probably make off of ads, and I mean that, it's literally a few bucks a month.

Well, I've enabled ads in my videos since about the 15th of March. At this point, you're absolutely correct with it being a few bucks a month. Kick up the video views and subscribers, and that number should go up. Google cuts checks at the $100 mark, so it's going to be a while before I'm able to purchase a product for review based on ad revenue, but it's definitely something I'm willing to do (ads in videos) to review what my viewers want to see, especially if that happens to be a mod or mid to high priced accessory.

I'm not out here to make my mark on the vaping community, definitely not to be the next GrimmGreen or pbusardo...I have my hands full enough with a wife and three (soon to be four) beautiful children. I don't want to "get rich" on YouTube, and doubt I could if I tried. I want to put my opinion of what I'm using and a bit of how to use it out there, and without either getting a bunch of free stuff from vendors (which I think is more of a hit credibility wise than ad revenue purchases) or turning a few bucks on the videos I record, edit and post, it's going to mostly be a juice review channel. Not that there's anything wrong with juice reviews of course, it's just hard to tell the world "you'll like this juice if" when, quite honestly, it may taste 100% different to somebody else.
