I'm using a Joye eGO with the stock atomizer/cartridge combo. I'm still pretty new at this; I was experimenting with different ways of applying the juice and dripping 2-3 drops directly onto the atomizer seems to produce hits with the most vapor and throat hit, at least compared with dripping into the back of the cartridge. Is the 'drip method' a good way to go with an eGo, or will it wear out the atomizer or battery more quickly than filling the cartridge?

Also, I'm looking at getting a set of cartomizers to try out soon; are there any particular models or suppliers that you guys would recommend for my eGo?

Thanks in advance! This forum has been a huge help for me getting off the cigs.

You pretty much nailed the advantages and disadvantages of dripping! The advantage is that it produces the best flavor and throat hit possible from your atomizer. The disadvantage is that it doesn't last very long before you have to refill and it can get a little messy....That's why we use Drip Tips and Drip Shields! A drip tip is simply a replacement for the "cartridge" or tip of your PV that is shaped/styled however you like but instead of having filler material to hold e-liquid, it has just a hole you can use to drip directly onto the atomizer! A drip shield is, somewhat obviously, simply an accessory that goes around the atomizer (similar to the "cones" used on many of the eGo style batteries) to prevent any excess liquid from leaking onto you or the battery.

Dripping is the best possible vape imo...
I have tried tons of different drip tips (d/t) and all of the them leave a lot to be desired imo... the best drip tip in the universe: Pyrex from theecig.com ... it's hand blown glass, and the juice goes down fast, and you don't get much coming back up into your mouth.

Cartomizers are easy to use, but not as good a flavor imo. People seem to love Boge (LR for the eGo, or reg. 2.5 to 3.0 Ohm... anything higher would not be for the eGo type battery.

Also liked: Dual Coil LR carto's, Fusion 801's from Ikenvape (adapter required).

My favorite atty for the eGo: LR dse 901 (1.8 Ohm) - the Empire shield is made for the 901 but will work on 510 as well.

there are some elements in ejuice that give more TH.... some vendors have TH as an add-on, but you know if you like the TH on the 1.25's (wow) how heat can produce it... make sure you get the LR 306's. Try the LR 510's too ... joye makes a 1.5 Ohm
will have to wait for my lr306 b4 I say dripping is best. On the kgo with a normal 510 atty I find dripping to produce alot of vapor but little throathit...I use the dual coil 1.25 ohm cartos and man they hit harrrrd.....Excited for my 306s and drip tip to get here though :)

Cartomizers - the most popular for EGo are Boge LR 2.0. I use the Boge standard resistance because I move them between slim 510 and Ego (slim batteries are not supposed to use LR - it can damage the batteries). The standard resistance may be easier to learn on - they won't singe as quickly if you don't keep it damp enough. The LR ones will use your battery charge up faster. Remember to fill these fully - I make them take 18 drops, then wait 20 seconds, then however many more drops it will soak in, while holding something against the threaded end hole - aim for the stuffing or inner wall. Then clean it up well. Then let it lay on different sides for 15-20 minutes to make sure every bit of stuffing gets wet. While vaping, if the vapor seems a bit dry or a bit light or tastes a bit off or if the carto is unusually warm, take it off the battery and add juice. I usually replace the white soft cap with a plastic drip tip on my main pair of cartos - cool comfortable mouthpiece and easy to remove to add juice (I do not drip into it - the carto has a center air channel).

I find that for me, thin clear juices help my cartos last longer. I use 20% or less VG and juices that leave little or no flavoring sediment.

Benefit of dripping - I drip juices that I am just testing (only juices I love get cartos). I drip juices that didn't quite earn cartos, and juices that are thicker than what I want to use in cartos. Dripping gives good vapor and flavor.

Benefit of cartos - keeps my favorite juices ready-to-vape and SEPARATE - no mixed flavors since they each have their own atomizer. The juice generally stays where it is supposed to. I hardly ever have to clean my atomizers.

Atomizer + cart - useful for new vapers. Simple but flaky, prone to leaks and juice in the mouth. Occasionally I use a Joye 306 cart w/ blue foam to hold a juice too thick for my cartos that I want to vape. A Joye 306 atty plus Joye 306 cart together are the same size and appearance as a Boge carto. But the Joye 306 cart sometimes gives a bit of plastic taste and its juice cup is small. (510 threaded devices can use 306 atomizers. 306 atomizers need their own style drip tip and are what I often drip on - they are easy to blow out).
