Hello! I'm hoping someone can help me. I've been vaping for over 2 years, but have yet to find a setup that works well for me continuously. I use ego style batteries and clearomizers. I hope I use the right terms here...but I've used stardust clearomizers, CE4's, CE5's, Xpressomizers (can't find anymore), and my latest are XL bottle bottom coil clearomizers that I got from aquavape.com.

My problem is, although I buy the replacement coils, I seem to go through them SO fast most of the time. I mean, less than a day for some of them. I thought some might just need to be cleaned, so I watched videos and gave it a try, dry burned, etc. and those that were dead were really dead...some worked for a bit longer (although not as well). What on earth am I doing wrong? Sometimes I get gurgling and leakage (but I do not get liquid in the center post). I've fussed with screwing the connections on less tight, tighter, etc. but to no avail. Still leaking. Sometimes the connection between clearomizer and battery gets hot to the touch, and when this happens I often find that it dies shortly thereafter. Another issue I've had is that some of my CE5 replacement coils burn way too hot and and taste burnt/feel way too hot/burn the back of my throat when I vape it. I'm using 2.4 for my replacement heads which is the highest I can find.

I feel like a lost cause. I just want a low maintenance setup, easy filling, easy vaping, and to be able to use a part for more than a day or 3 before it burns up. Am I expecting too much? Any recommendations on what to buy? Links would be especially helpful! Thank you so much for reading and any help you can offer!

Many here really like the new Mini Aspire Nautilus with the BVC. It would look very nice on your Ego.

The coils last longer and produce great flavor. If you decide to try the new Mini the 1.8 BVC is what you should get.

Look for Labor Day sales...some vendors already have Pre-Labor Day sales going on. If you find a vendor look on top of ECF page and in the search box put the vendors name in to see if there's a coupon available to you.

Good Luck to You!!!

That is absolutely not normal unless it is being fired like crazy, perhaps while you are carrying it around in your pocket. I was told an atomizer should last about a 30mL bottle and I use mine for even longer than that with no issues.

There are multiple possible causes for your problem

-Do you get a burnt taste when you use them?
-Do you have only one battery?
-Is it the exact same problem with all the tanks you mentioned?
-Do these tanks use different atomizers?
-What juice(s) do you use in them?
-Did you get all your gear from the same place?

I agree the Nautilus mini is great (got mine yesterday) but I'd want to make sure your battery or the way you carry your ecig is not what is burning all those coils before starting to burn even more expensive ones...

-Do you get a burnt taste when you use them? - I get a burnt taste only with the CE4/CE5 style clearomizers.
-Do you have only one battery? - I have 4 batteries - I think 3 are the 900 mah size, one is the longer one with the twist at the bottom.
-Is it the exact same problem with all the tanks you mentioned? The problem varies depending on the day and the model. The XL Bottle (most recent purchase) is the one with the most leakage. The CE4/CE5's are the ones giving me the burnt taste issue, but also some gurgling.
-Do these tanks use different atomizers? - They do use different atomizers, and I purchase the brand and style recommended in the information sections from the sites I'm buying from.
-What juice(s) do you use in them? It varies - currently I am using Grand Terrace Vape "..." and Cinnamon Bun, and I normally order an 80/20 if it's available.
-Did you get all your gear from the same place? I order from a lot of different places.

Another thought I just had - sometimes the issue when I give up on an atomizer is that it starts to have less vapor production, which I usually attribute to it going bad.

I don't carry it in my pocket, I leave it in my purse most of the time when not in use and I usually do the "press the button 5 times" thing to lock it from being pressed accidentally.

There can be an incredible difference in coil life depending on the liquid. My two main ones are an Earl Grey Tea and a Menthol Tobacco. Using the same clearos (Anyvape Davides) on identical PVs (iTaste VV v3s) I get over two weeks to the coil I'm using with the tea flavor but am lucky to get more than three days on the tobacco one.

I can usually but not always get a couple of days more on the ones I use with the tobacco flavor if I clean them very thoroughly.

The same thing was happening to me so I switched to carto tanks instead. They are cheaper than coil heads and last a lot longer. For now I don't want to get into rebuilding so this was an easier solution. I get mine from IBtanked. I bought my boyfriend the 19mm tank for his Evod and he likes it a lot better than the Protank mini he had on there.

Sorry, I missed your reply. I have to admit this is not an easy one to figure out.

A few thoughts:

Bigger tanks leak out more easily, especially in hot temperatures. 80/20 is high in PG (tell me if it's the opposite), which means your juice is fairly liquid to start with (VG is thicker than PG)

Less vapor could simply mean that the juice level is a little too low to get into the atomizer. It's usually better to refill sooner rather than try to empty the tank completely. It can also mean that the air holes are getting clogged up. Rinsing the tanks with warm water helps (just remove the atomizer during the operation)

You can also have lower vapor production when the battery is low. eGo types will give you what they can and the variable voltage ones can only give you the max voltage for a little bit of time... the voltage will drop as the battery drains, giving off less vapor after a while even if you're set at maximum.

ok, so what does the burning taste mean on the tank? I get that often enough, and often on a new one!

Burnt taste means your atomizer does not have enough juice in it. Prime your new atomizers by dropping 2-3 drops of e-juice directly into them before using them or let the freshly filled tank with new atomizer in it sit upright for 10-15 minutes. On an in-use tank; If the juice level is too low, it might not make it into the atomizer, giving less vapor at first an then will taste burnt.

Darker juices will also clog up and wear out atomizers faster.

Hope some of this can help.

My suggestion:
Spend some time reading about different Tanks.

Not much in the way of Disposable and Cheap. It adds up.

Nautilus, even mini is not cheap. Not bad, but not cheap.
Evods do a decent job. Again they need replacement heads. Rebuilding is simple and much cheaper.
Bigger tanks work best on bigger power supplies.

Remember, what may seem expensive at first may be much cheaper in the long run.
I mostly use Mechanical Mods and Kayfun style tanks now.
Rewick all 7 for about 15 cent.

Would you be willing to get a bigger set up? If you did you would have more power to work with and more tank options. It kind of sounds like you are vaping a lot and maybe the ego just isn't giving you everything you need anymore. If you would be willing to learn to rebuild I would recommend a geneses style atomizer with a stainless steel mesh wick. I was like you and went threw heads and cartomizers like crazy. I used at least 1 new one every day. I have been using the same SS mesh wick for 6 months and only change the actual wire coil out maybe once a month. I just rinse the tank and dry burn the coil after each tank. The major down side of the geneses style attys is that they will leak if laid down. It drove me crazy at 1st but I got used to it pretty quick. This set up has nothing to get gunked up and or clog. If you tip it up when you vape you will never get a dry hit or burnt taste. I spent 12 dollars for the SS mesh and the wire over 6 month ago and haven't spent a penny since. I still have enough left to last me another year I bet. The leaking if you lay it down for very long was a small price to pay for the reliability it gives me. I use the AGA T2 on a Provari. The set up has just been fail proof for me. You wouldn't need a Provari if you didn't want one. There are lots of VV and or VW mods that are far cheaper. The AGA T2 is just one of many geneses style atomizers to pick from as well. The SS mesh is the bees knees if you ask me. It never gets gunked up, never clogs, never floods and last for who knows how long. Just something to think about. I nevermeta clearomizer that worked the same way day in and day out. Cartomizers were better but still hit and miss for quality. No matter what you do I wish you good luck and happy vaping. Hope you get it worked out.
