Sooo sorry that this is gonna be long winded, but I dont wanna leave anything out that may be important!

So Ive been vaping roughly since the beginning of Nov. and since the middle of dec. Ive had a sore throat I just cannot kick. I wasnt sure if maybe I was sick or if it was the ecig, so i stopped vaping for a week, and my sore throat cleared up after a few days, and figuring I was good to go, started vaping again today. Sore throat came back almost right away. but I was able to realize that its more of a lingering pain from too harsh of a throat hit....like really, when i inhale, its like being seriously hit in my throat! throat also feels kindof swollen. so heres everything Ive tried since mid dec to clear this up, and everything thats failed.

Oh, i also did goto the doc, got on some antibiotics, and still no change. sooooo

I went down from a 60/40 pg/vg to a 50/50 and then 40/60 -- and man the 40/60 i could barely taste the flavors. so i would think 100% VG, which ive thought about, would be completely flavorless. I tried smoking a tank or two ( kanger protank mini) of my BF's brand of ejuice, but all he has is 50/50 mix...seemed a little better but still not a remedy.

I also have had a lot of issues with vapors tounge because of some meds Im on. no one can say Im not hydrated with all the water, gatorade and (doc reccomended) pedialyte i constantly chug. so thats not neccessarily an issue that can be fixed either.

The only thing I have yet to try is going down on the Nic content, im currently at 18....and still feel like i want/do chain vape alot. so my concern with going down is that then i would really really chain vape.

Ive also tried turning my VV way down but all that seems to get me is alot less vapor and not being able to taste my ejuice whatsoever.

can someone tell me theres hope?

It also might depend on which vendor you are getting your juice from that the flavor weakens with less pg that much. One of my favorite vapes is Bobas Bounty and that is 100% VG and has awsome flavor. But you might have a slight allergy to PG, hence the sore throat.

You could also try taking your nic level down. Might be too much irritation causing it too.

A. Drop nic level down.
B. up the VG. More likely to be somewhat allergic to PG then VG.
C. up the PG if VG increase makes things worse.
D. Look for a flavor that isn't overwhelming but weak by nature. Perhaps a pastry one. Usually smooth.
E. try not inhaling off an on and just let Vape go through nose directly from mouth.

Hope some of this helps.

I had a similar problem when I switched over... I just popped cough drops like candy and kept drinking things that weren't water (every time I drank water, I would feel fine for a few seconds, then my mouth and throat would go back to being dry). After a few weeks the issue lessened, and now after 5 months it is gone completely. Oh... and lifesavers :) they were a nice alternative to the cough drops.

well im seeing such much older posts that say 100% vg can have quite the TH. guess I'll just have to buy small. disheartened.

I personally find that it's the nicotine that is the biggest factor in the TH. Any 0 mg nic juice I try gives no TH at all - same juice at 12+ mg gives a TH for me. I found nicotine content a major factor in TH when comparing otherwise identical liquids.

For me higher VG content seems to reduce the TH at a given nic level: I vape at 12 mg, usually at 70/30 or 80/20 PG/VG, I recently got a 12 mg juice form a different brand at 50/50 and it definitely has a reduced TH (but it's mind-bendingly delicious so I don't care - EpicJuice Apple Jax). Caveat is that I can't try this juice at a different PG/VG ratio to see if the increased VG i's why it tastes smoother than my usual vapes.

This helps me a lot too. Being hydrated isn't enough. Maybe it's enough to stop you from actually feeling physically ill, but not stop discomfort. If the vape is drying out your membranes it doesn't matter how much liquid you have inside of you, you will still get dry and irrated. Gum/cough drops/candy anything that gets your saliva glands working and keep your mouth/throat area lubricated. I'm far from a doctor, just my :2c:
