Ok, so my boss's father just went into the hosiptal for the umtienth time in the last few years and he still refuses to quit smoking. My boss knows about my success with E-cig use and wants me to recomend a purchase for his father. I have about zero information to go off of. All I know is that he is a grumpy old man with less than 30% of his lung capaciy left who refuses to give up cigarettes even though he has doctors telling him that he is dying because of it. I've only been dripping for forever and I figure that dripping isnt the most appealing way to start off. I would imagine that a cartomizer setup would be best for someone looking for the least ammount of hassle.

I know my boss has some money so I would assume he would be ok just buying prefilled cartos for the convienence. I could probably assist him in buying juice and refilling them down the road if it is something that he remains interested in.

So, do you think a KR808 kit would be best for his father? I hear about the bloog a lot lately, is that all its cracked up to be? Are there other options I should consider? I'm reluctant to suggest cartridges as they were a ton of hassle in my experience.

I'd go for an 808 on that one personally. The bloog might be a good option, but I have no experience with it so I can't say. I found through my retail experience that the older generation require simplicity...especially those with any conditions like arthritis (dealing with small parts is difficult)

V4L has some great starter packages and a wide variety of pre-filled. I'm sure there are others that are good as well, but those are the only 808's I've used.

I hope it works out for him. Most of my customers in the store I worked at were over 50 and they preferred cartos.

I'd try a selection, yes, more investment up front but a better chance of the preferred device being kept and used, bring the wrong one at the outset and it will be "I already tried those things". Yes, an investment, hopefully your boss could go a hundred or two to get his pops dialed into the right device immediately. If he hits on something he likes, it was money well spent, I'm sure you can discard anything he rejects :).

Try an auto, a manual and variations of those with carts, atty, different ohms, juices, etc., get him to try until he hits a personal sweet spot.

Wish you the best.

Unfortunately, at 70+ and already very sick he may be in the mindset of "I'm going out anyway, quitting now is pointless" frame of mind. I've come across a lot of smokers like that. My ex's mom is one of them. The woman is a chimney, chain smokes all day (we've repainted her ceiling numerous times due to the yellow buildup) She also drinks beer/tomato juice a good part of the day. She has no intention of changing anything. She says she enjoys it and she's going to keep enjoying it until the end.

I'd have him start with a super mini or even a disposable...the more it resembles a real analog, the easier the transition for those in the older crowd...I've done this with my Aunt and she didn't quit, but does supplement her smoking with disposables for times she can't smoke. I think eventually she will just go total e cig, but it's gonna take some time for her, as she's pretty set in her ways. (boss' Dad is probably cranky cuz he's in so much pain and frustrated, so empathy will go a long way. GOOD LUCK!!)

The trouble is I will have no interaction with him. My boss who will be my intermediary is someone who never smoked cigarettes. This adds further complication as I would have to teach my boss who would then teach his dad. I think I am going to recomend Vapor4Life- Electronic Cigarette: Vapor King Ultimate XL Starter Kit

2 of the larger 808 style batts, and a passthrough incase he goofs on keeping batts charged. Personally I feel that manual batts are better. You have more control over them. I have only ever used one auto batt and it was way too sensitive so I may be a bit biased. Its a bit pricy, especially since I could just have him get an eGo kit for 40 bucks. But I think starting off with cartomizers would be the best route. I don't think his dad is a computer user so I can't easily point him here to ECF.

Cartomizers are easy to use. When its not producing anymore he can toss them into something and open up a new one. Eventually I can have him give me the used up ones and I can refill them for him if it comes to that down the road. I have a feeling hes not gonna like anything but I want to at least give him a solid kit to try and possibly add some years onto his life.

Its been difficult for me to explain to my boss that there are a bazillion different options out there. So much of vaping is subject to ones own tastes and preferences. I just know that he's very worried about his father's health and I want to start off with the simplest set-up I can find.

The auto 808s work well, are simple to use. Bloog has fans, but best I can tell they really are 808s.

Personally, I'd go 808 auto, either standard or XL, with a couple spare batteries (nothing like starting out and having a battery issue -- spend the $ for a couple spares), plus an assortment of prefilleds.

Basic question is whether he smokes a regular tobacco or a menthol, and what kind. V4L has a decent selection of flavors, pick one that's close to his brand, in a couple strengths, then maybe a pack or two of samplers, to get the best chance of finding something he likes.

My g'ma (in her 70's) loves the kit i got her from v4l. She prefers manuals to autos, and i have my great-uncle's (in his 60's) v4l manual kits sitting here waiting for him to come over and get them later today. She prefers flavors that are nothing like tobac (her favorites are fruits and spices), but he prefers the tobac flavors (like v4l wowbacco).

Right. The kit comes with 2 batts and a passthrough. I like the idea of including a passthrough incase he forgets to charge his batts he can still plug in while his batts are charging. I will have to get more information from my boss (hes out of the office today with his dad in the hospital). I'll have to find out what hes smoking now and see if he should order manual or auto batts. I definately want to get him a couple sample packs. As many of us know, some flavors are just tasty when vaped. Like coffee. I hate coffee, but its one of my favorite vapes!
