Hey folks,

Let me start off saying that I'm a nic fiend....I mean it's bad ha. I have tried to using tobacco several times and even tried alternative to smoking/dipping such as using Blu but it just didn't work for me. While I was visiting family over Christmas, I saw that my dad was no longer smoking, but switched to vaping after 30+ years of smoking. He told me about it and I tried his out and I loved it.

So, yesterday I decided enough was enough and it was time to stop smoking and dipping and after some research decided to try Halo out. I order the Halo Triton starter kit along with a VV battery and some extra coils (2.2 ohms). Now I don't know too much about vaping and what all is what, so I'm turning to you guys who I also draw inspiration from to point me in the right direction for everything I need and the tips and tricks, the tools of the trade if you will of everything I should know and if there is anything else I should be aware of. Some basic background information: smoked 5-10 cigs a day on average, but also dipped 1/2-1 can a day as well. Just want to say thank you in advance for whatever positive/negative feedback you give as I'm sure it will help me in some way or another. Also, sorry if this is long winded and if some of this has already been answered, but I felt I should ask question that could have answers tailored to my specific situation.

Oh, one thing I forgot that I wanted to ask about specifically was for people that have tried the halo liquids, what are your favorites? (non menthol favorites lol) I'm also curious if anyone has any recommendations for a decent french vanilla type that is good and would work well with the plastic tanks that the triton uses.

Kringle's Curse from Halo is fantastic (peppermint, just right) and in the tobacco flavors, Tribeca and Longhorn are my favs. I also got Johnson Creek French Vanilla and loved it, although some of the reviews I saw were not all that flattering. It was the first French Vanilla I tried and tasted perfect to me, but I may try some other juices to compare. Let me add that a lot of vendors (including Halo) have sample packs so you can try out various juices and see what works for you. I never would have ordered Kringle's Curse, but it was in my gourmet sample pack and I LOVED it.

I got a little advice about the triton tank. It is just a Kanger T2 with different battery threading, which means it still takes the same coil heads as the T2. They can be bought from places other than Halo for half the price. Kanger T2 Coil Heads

And any T2 will work on the 808/ego Triton battery...and on other 510/ego batteries...but the Triton tank will only work on the 808/ego battery. So you can buy any T2 tank, and any T2 replacement head and you're good to go. There is nothing wrong with Halo stuff, but the tanks and replacement heads are a bit overpriced.

Also, Smokeless Image sells similar 808/ego type batteries and they have lots of different devices that will fit.

I order a variety of the gourmet and also picked up some Turkish and the Tribeca you had mentioned. Looking forward to trying those. Used to smoke Camels, so I'm really hoping the Turkish will be somewhat similar. I know to some it might seem weird wanting to try some good french vanilla, but I tried some about a month ago and the stuff was dang good ha.

I've tried their tobacco sampler, sub-zero, prime, and the belgium chocolate. So far the prime and tribeca are my favorite. I'm currently vaping a mix of 4ml tribeca and 1ml subzero and I love it. I also did this mix with the prime and it's very good as well.

Thanks for the heads up, when the variety pack comes in I'll have to check that out and play around with some mixes and what not. I did read somewhere (maybe here even now that I think of it) that darker liquids like the choco are really hard to clean out of the tank. Have you or anyone else experienced this?

Thanks for the info, I was apprehensive at first because I'm unfamiliar with vaping and what not, so I just sort of decided I'd steer clear of modding things until I had more information and was comfortable and familiar with the system I am starting with and then move on from there, but knowing that now, I'll keep my eyes open for cheaper parts and what not. Much appreciated!

Yeah, I started with Halo and Smokeless Image and used them exclusively for 8 months. It's all my wife uses even after 18 months. So they can work just fine. After awhile you will find what will work on the batteries and what won't. They will certainly get you started.

Good to know, ha your wife really must like Halo. My father uses some modded variation of a Kanger actually, just not exactly sure what it is off the top of my head. Would be curious to know what you're running with now. I did know that I wanted the 900 maH vv that Halo had, so picked that up with the starter. So I'll be starting with the two basic ones and then that one and I figured 3 batteries and 3 tanks should suffice for the time being. I'll probably hit you up about more "advanced" stuff down the road :p

If/when you feel like you want to branch out, you can get an 808 to 510 adapter that will let you use any 510 threaded topper on your Triton battery. The SmokTech adapter is only about $5, which is a lot cheaper than buying new batteries.

I've been vaping for a total of about 18 months. I've got mods and eGos at home, but my daily user that I take with me whenever I leave the house is my Triton.

I decided to "branch" out to other ego devices so I could try out all of the various tanks. I still use pretty basic ego type batteries and a few basic mods but I'm always trying new stuff. Gave all of my Halo/Smokeless Image batts to my wife. She uses T2 tanks only. She is more of a "if it works, don't fix it" type. I on the other hand always chase the new shiny objects.

To appease my curiosity, you guys have both used/use the Triton, so I trust your opinions on the matter, but here's a couple more questions (I'm just a bag-o-questions today apparently):

1) I understand the Triton uses a plastic opposed to glass tank. Major differences?

2) Whats the best way to use the Tritons? (i.e. cleaning routine, changing out coils, how long a tank of fluid would last you, likes/dislikes)

3) Completely Average you mentioned that the Triton is your daily user, what sort of battery/batteries do you use on it?

4) In your guys experience, what was the best Ohm resistance for coils for the regular and vv (if you used a vv of course)

5) Personal nicotine level preference?

I know some of this is supremely subjective depending on personal preference and what not, but your input would still be good. Thanks guys you all have been really helpful getting me started with everything. I ask a lot of questions, but I'd rather be in the know rather than mess something up or be ill-informed, so thanks again!

Shamrock and Kringles both come in the gourmet sampler. Mix them about 50/50 and you'll get thin mint.

Thanks for the tip I'll try that out! Still looking around the web for a good french vanilla to try out for kicks, but trying to find one that will go alright with the triton tank. Just don't want some 100% VG thing that's gonna be thick and filmy in the tank.
