Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and was just looking for some advice.

I'm currently dipping grizzly wintergreen about a can and a half a day. You could say I'm fairly addicted. What I wanted to do through e cigs, is to try and quit dipping. Now that it's becoming a more and more serious problem, I want to try and drop it as quick as possible.

A couple nights ago I purchased a Halo Triton tank starter kit and the variety sample pack of juices to try out. The e liquid was 12mg/ml nicotine. I had read some reviews and did some research and that was what I decided on. I'm not sure if it's a good choice, I just hope it suits my needs.

What I'm trying to do is slowly taper of dip by using the e cig. I know it is going to be a very, very long journey but I hope in the end it'll pay off. If any of you have any advice or insights on what I should be doing/ what I'm doing wrong, I would very much appreciate it.

Thank you, I hope you all have a good day.

Edit - Forgot to mention, I am almost completely new to smoking. I have never smoked a cigarette before in my life, and have only taken a few puffs of an e cig.

Ok awesome thanks guys.

Minitater- yes dipping does allows almost instant nicotine absorption through the gums and an average dip held in for about 30 minutes I believe is 4-5 cigarettes worth of nicotine, I just thought as me being new to smoking in general it would be better to start at a lower nic level.

edit - yeah I forgot to mention I'm new to smoking in original post.

Lower Nic level for a lesser throat hit. I dipped 1.5-2 cans a day. E cigs have certainly slowed my dipping down.

Oh perfect! That is just what I wanted to hear. I think it would be good for me to start at a lower level than, because as I've never smoked a cigarette in my life, I probably won't be the best at vaping. So I can just access from there my nicotine tolerance in the juice.

Thank you for that input!

You might want to consider raising your nic level a bit. Maybe try a higher % vg to smooth the throat hit out a little as well. Many/most vendors offer a couple pg/vg ratio options. Other than that you are on the right track and making the switch might be difficult for you (it varies per person of course) but in the end..its a life saver. If you want to quit bad enough you will stick with it and make the switch! Best of luck - any more questions feel free to ask.

Here's some more reading material for you also. I also used to dip grizzly wintergreen and smoked. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...518086-quitting-smokeless-tobacco-vaping.html . Welcome to the board! This is the best place to be for vaping questions!

Oh wow that thread is chalk full with people just like me trying to do this. Amazing!

Thank you very much for that article. I still have a lot more to learn, but hopefully I'll stick with it and learn more from all you guys about what I should get and do etc etc. Thanks a bunch again much appreciated.

Ah ok I will keep that in mind. As I'm new to vaping, and never smoked before, I want to assess my palete for flavors I liked, then move on to the higher nic content with a flavor I like, but thank you very much for that useful information. It is all very much appreciated.

You're in good company...quite a few dippers around these parts. One of many of our mentors for coil building, Rip Trippers, also quit dip with e-cigs. So, you can have the confidence you can get 'er done.

I think the biggest obstacle will be the changing of the habitual behavior. E-cigs work for a lot of smokers because the action is very similar to smoking and obviously dipping is something different. Nonetheless, it will deliver your nic and that's what will eventually get you over each craving. There's no need to be in a rush to quit...take your time for what you need. Once you're familiar with it, try and push yourself a little further each time. The cravings do go away if you give it time, maybe a minute or two of unpleasantness, and then you're on to the next thing without a thought in the world about that craving. They will come further and further apart as you get on with it.

Nic levels will most likely be in the 12-18mg level, but could be more. If you feel like less does it for you, by all means, stick with that...but you may find you want more in the beginning to help curb the cravings. (You'll know if it's too much.) As for flavors, definitely try a few...maybe even some you might not think you'd like. I was a bit surprised to find that fruits and citruses were really enjoyable for me, so open your options if you can. If you're seeking a tobacco, there are some good ones out there...Backwoods Brew, Heather's Heavenly Vapes, Alien Vision just to name a few...a lot of these are NET's (naturally extracted tobaccos) that provide a rather fine, tobacco-like experience.

Good luck with your journey. We're here for you if you need support! I wish you the best!

Hey, pman, I see you found your group!:)

Yes indeed I did! Many people have helped me so much even though I've only been here for a little bit! Thank you so much for all your help, I really appreciate it. This was a good idea as now I see the amount of people in the same or were in the same position as me.

Revco- thank you very much for that insight! I'll get back to you on whether or not I as well like the citruses and fruit flavors. And about the nic levels, I'm sure or hopeful that once I try out the 12 I can see from there where I want to go. Thank you for the kind wishes!
