Hello ECF DIY'ers! I was hoping for a little advice here.

I bought a handful of TPA/TFA flavors (Cotton Candy, Cola Syrup, tobacco, DK tobacco, French Vanilla, RY4 Type, and Mary Jane). Per the advice I have read around here I want to mix up some simple batches of just a single flavor so I can get to know the flavor and then work on tweaking them. I presume it is beneficial master a flavor by itself so I can have a better understanding of how flavors can be mixed together with future experimentation.

Anyway, I wanted to get a 5ml sample batch at 8% flavoring for each of my flavors mixed up (I'd like to get the tobacco flavors steeping asap). I mixed my nic base and my PG/VG in my 7 bottles but have now realized that I will run into a problem adding my flavors. I only have 1 3ml syringe that I planned on using to measure my flavor concentrates. Obviously I don't want any cross contamination with my flavors especially as this is my first "get to know the flavor" sample.

Any suggestions on how I can go about adding 7 flavors using a single syringe? Should I try a quick water/alcohol rinse between samples or is there anything else I can try to keep my flavors isolated? My next purchase will certainly be more syringes so I don't hit this wall again, but for the time being I need some advice. Thanks in advance!

Sorry for double post.

It has been discussed among others and I have to agree that you should follow a "list" of procedures when mixing as it does effect flavor.

1. Add Flavor (I add Flavor, LJ, EM, Vinegar or whatever else)
2. Add PG (I then shake bottle to "mix")
3. Add VG (Shake again)
4. Add Nic (Shake again)
5. Hot water bath for 10 minutes or until the water reaches room temperature.
6. Enjoy or let it steep until you feel it is ready.

I recently mixed a mix I have done a dozen times and mixed VG before I did the PG and the taste was very effected.

I use lemon juice for cleaning plastic like bottles and syringes it works great for getting out lingering flavors

Thanks for this. I actually just bought a bottle of lemon juice at the grocery store the other day!

So let me ask so I am on the same page, did you mix pg/vg and nic already? you are just waiting to add flavor correct?

yes, that is correct. I just need to get 7 different flavors into 7 different bottles with only one syringe.

Oh wow, I had no idea that it would affect flavor. I actually don't have any plain PG. I usually buy 50/50 and cut it with some VG to make approx 66vg/33pg with the commercial juices I get. Since I can get VG easily (walmart Humco brand, it seems okay to me) I just got my nic base in PG to keep my mixing simple for the time being.

I dont want to waste what ive already mixed so im still going to try with my current plan. Seems I have a lot more reading and research to do on the DIY stuff. Thanks for your advice!

Yes anytime, I am no pro just observations I have read and followed and the little things that make a difference. If you have not read it you might want to check out the add vinegar or lemon juice thread. The over all consensus is Yes add it. 2 drops lemon juice to fruit flavors and 2 drops apple cider vinegar to tobacco flavors per 5 ml batches. Their is discussion of other things but I would ease into those as lemon juice and apple cider vinegar most people have in the house already.

Yup, I have both of them on hand =) I will look into that thread for sure. For now though I will still with my current plan. At least this way I can get an idea of what my current flavors have to offer on their own before I start some experimentation.
