advice for newbie stressing out pg vg

Hi i have been vaping approx 3 months, the first month was fine but gradually got drier throat and soreness also heavy chest/lungs and terrible sinus congestion problems i was vaping 70/30 pg vg

i went down to 40/60 vg pg mix with not much difference but now am waiting for 100% vg incase i have a pg intolerance?

what i am concerned about is vg should get rid of my dry throat but will it increase my heavy lung sensation due to heaviness?

and then if i go pg route it will make dry throat at night intolerable and blocked nose [doesn't make difference how much water i drink]
thanks for advice

Another thing I've experienced is that the quality of the PG matters. A lot. You might try a 50/50 blend from a higher-end juice company and see if that helps. While I usually vape 30/70 blends due to PG side effects, I've found that I can vape 50/50 with a couple of vendors (Nicoticket especially comes to mind). I'm not a cloud chaser and typically vape at around 10-12 watts on a 1.8-2.0 coil; 100% VG doesn't produce enough flavor for me. Good luck!

I much prefer high VG juices, I find that 75%VG/25%PG works nicely for me.

I don't have any issues with flavors, the vendor I get my juices from does a great job and they are quite tasty :)

I don't get the same type of throat hit with higher VG juices and the vapor seems more humid/denser when inhaling but not scratchy at all. For me, throat hit isn't a need so it all works out well.

What setup are you using? I've found that different toppers will deal with my juices differently, some not working well while others can deal with the higher VG nicely.

I know that PG carries the flavorings ... Does anyone know if nicotine is carried by both VG and PG???
Joey,

Nicotine can be carried by either PG, VG, or both. They also both carry the flavors, it's just that VG tends to mute them somewhat due to the chemistry involved.

But you certainly can have 100%VG liquid that has both nicotine and flavorings (although it's harder to find the VG-based flavorings).

However, before assuming it's a PG allergy, make SURE you're drinking enough water! (You lose a surprising amount when vaping, and particularly now when the air is cold and dry the problem gets even worse).

I had a similar problem when I switched from protank starter kits to rebuildables. It was the volume of inhaled PG that caused an allergic reaction. It started just like yours. Stuffy nose, throat on freaking fire, and heavy chest. Switching to "100% VG" pretty much fixed it.

I drink lots of water anyway; however, I had to almost triple my water intake after switching to mostly dripping. It REALLY dries you out, so the sore throat would come and go.

As to the heavy chest feeling, cheaper jooses use a lower USP purity VG than most "premium" lines, inorder to keep the cost down. The impurities must be what's causing heavy chest, because when I vape joose made with the purest of pure VG, I no longer have this issue either.

I have an issue with PG also.... even 20pg 80vg gives me the itchy throat and sinus swelling... went to 100vg and no more problems...

Yup. ^^what he said^^ adding quality/purity of VG.

Some times I do also. Vaping tends to dry everyone out. I have learned to have a large glass of whatever nearby when I vape, and to also drink more fluids in general. It seems to keep my throat moist.

Hope [this] helps.

Its kind of counterintuitive. Its just water vapor right? Yup. But it dries us out...Yup. Because science. The water vapor actually leeches water from out mouth and respritory system. DRINK MOAR WATER!!!

In a word: YES. Both flavors and nicotine and flavors can be carried by both pg AND vg! PG does a much better job evenly distributing the flavors because of its relatively extremely low viscosity. compared to VG, PG is thin like water. It just does a better job mixing in with the VG and spreading everything out evenly. With that being said, there are some very good very high, even "100%" VG juices out there. I put 100% in quotations because neither the nicotine nor the flavors by themselves are VG. They can have a VG base though, basicaly making for a 98% to 99% pure VG solution. They do tend to be VERY thick and cost more because of the relative difficulty in extracting flavorings withouth alcohol or PG. Nude nicotine sells some "100%" VG jooses on their website. I've heard some good things about their joose and have a couple bottles plus a DIY kit on its way to me. DIY: approx 260ml mixed by me = about 30-40ml of "premium" purchased at a B&M...

Brilliant! thanks for all your helpful comments, i will try a quality vg only juice first and take it from there, thanks Joey that may be an idea to stagger during the day with different mixes, the dryness is mainly at night i wake up with a superdry mouth and with a congested nose i have to use a lip balm to stop chapped lips as i can only breath through my mouth
I use an ordinary protank with an ego-t battery, i will find out if 100% vg gunks up the coils (as i've read elsewhere) i think experimentation is the key as analogs are out of the question and i'm enjoying myself:)

I don't think I have an outright allergy to PG ... I have a 70 VG/30 PG juice and have graduated down to 3 mg of nic now. It seems to satisfy me as I also got a Aspire Atlantis 0.5 ohm tank and a iPV mini which I use at 16 or 20 watts [see second photo]. The more power and lower ohms really get the nic and flavor to me better than my old stick type vaporizer [see first photo]. When it's really cold out I still have nasal problems, but a good nose blowing seems to solve that.
