Like most people, I started at 50/50 and never really paid much attention to it. When I order juices, however, I always order at the vendor recommended ratio if they have one. I started noticing that a lot of the vendors I liked had suggested high PG/VG ratios.

During Black Friday, I ordered a ton of juices, some from vendors who were high VG or 100% VG. I definitely did notice what people say about high VG juices having better vapor and lower throat hit.

The kicker for me was a flavor I bought after sampling at a B&M. All the samples at that B&M were 0mg so I couldn't judge the throat hit. When I got the 12mg bottle home, it tasted amazing. Even better than when I was sampling it. However, I wasn't getting any throat hit from it. It was incredibly frustrating because the flavor was so good. I ended up googling the vendor and found out that they make their juices 70% VG. That pretty much clinched it for me.

At this point I consider myself a high PG guy.

PG is a flavor carrier and provides TH.
VG provides the thickest vapor.

1. If you mix flavor in 100% PG which is the way most flavorings come other than alcohol-based ones, you will get the best flavor and the strongest TH in your juice as PG is a slight irritant and a flavor carrier.
2. If you mix flavor in 100% VG you will get plumes of vapor but the flavor of your juice will be muted in comparison unless you use mor flavoring and any TH will come from whatever flavoring was used (like cinnamon or pepper) and the nic content as VG itself does not irritate.

What does this mean?

When buying juice with a high VG content, the mixer compensates for its inability to carry flavor by increasing the amount of flavoring used in the juice. So, if that's a concern of yours, drop down on the VG content.
When buying juice with a high PG content, expect a stronger TH and less or thinner vapor. If that's a concern of yours, drop down on the PG content.

Both juices will taste the same if that's possible depending on the flavoring used (using a lot to compensate for less flavor carrying can produce a perfume/chemical taste) but the one with high VG will just give the most vapor, least TH and there will be some sweetness to the juice that may not be there with one using more PG unless a sweetener was added. The mixer makes changes in its flavoring contents trying to get the vape experience to be uniform across varying PG/VG blends.
