Hi all,

I am new here, but have been vaping for about a year and have lurked (sorry!) on the forums for some time. I am now considering becoming a distributor, as the region I am in (not N. America) has not yet been 'infiltrated'. There are no laws any which way here yet regarding e-cigs. So, my question is, as I'm in the initial research phase as an entrepreneur: Where to start? I wish to find a wholesaler and re-market as my own brand. Any and all initial advice, leads, and all else is welcome with much advance thanks.

You may find SOME of your answers if you post in the Suppliers sub forum
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-cigarette-suppliers-forum/
mostly about the re-branding maybe.

as far as NO ecig laws any which way... well hate to break it to you... but all ecigs that you do see in japan are no-nic....

entrepreneur laws are a bit convoluted here as well... especially if you don't know the system.

what brings you to japan... what is your country of origin... and your japanese language level?

Thanks for the link--will be checking that suppliers forum over the next couple days.

'as far as NO ecig laws any which way... well hate to break it to you... but all ecigs that you do see in japan are no-nic....'

Of this I am aware, and I admit I jumped the gun on stating there are no laws on e-cigs here: I don't know yet, just starting out this research. Things being "convoluted" for business here in Japan (...an apt descriptor, actually), the present (small!) lineup of non-nicotine e-cig products could be for any number of reasons till I find out more for sure (do tell, if you have solid info--could spare me loads of time!!). At this point for me as a researching entrepreneur, it may well simply be that nobody has attempted nic-containing liquids yet in Japan. From the packaging I've seen here, these first marketers seem intent on breaking into the "Quit" crowd. On the other hand, the lack of nic-containing products here could also be due to stiff resistance from a number of heavyweights... Thus, for me, research is called for. While looking into legalities and potential political hurdles over here, I'm also keen on gaining an estimate as to set-up costs should things be peachy (if even for a short time)--for that aspect of research, I'm here at this forum and elsewhere.

I've been in Japan for 13 years. Originally from the US, civilian. Where are you stationed, btw? My Japanese is basically fluent, business partner is native Japanese, and I've successfully launched one business and am just now in the process of starting another (not related to e-cigs). When it comes to red tape here, I'm experienced with "the system" but always dealing with surprises. Much always seems to depend just on whom you are dealing with, irregardless of rules and procedures. Of course, it also helps to have permanent residency.

Have you looked into marketing nic-content e-cigs in Japan?--insights would be greatly appreciated (you could spare me the time, if it's a sure no-go, so that I can look into other ideas still brewing). If you have looked into it, please also let me know about your own business experience in Japan, Japanese-language level, and length of time here.

Much appreciation in advance and thanks again for your reply.
