I decided to purchase a new carto for my e-cig yesterday from our local vape shop in town. When I got home, I poorer my liquid into the carto, and let it sit for about 10 minutes. (My usual routine) however, after a few vapes I noticed that there was an unusual taste that I had not experienced before. I can only describe it as if there was a hint of gun powdery / firecracker taste accompanied with my grape juice. Today, I examined the carto'a wicks.. And noticed that the point at which they connect was black, and discolored. The remainder of the wicks were normal in color, but it was still odd for the carto being less than a day old. Do you guys think this was a bad carto? And if so should I go back to the shop and ask for another?

Do you know what the resistance was on your old cartos, and is it the same for your new one? If the old one was 2.8 ohms, and the new 1.8 ohms, you could have hit it with a bit too much power. Often the burning is a sign on the juice being fried rather than gently boiled off into vapor...:) If you have a VV battery, try reducing the voltage a bit, if it's a fixed voltage battery, just pulse the fire button when you puff to cool the coil a bit more and let the juice wick a bit more....:vapor:
