Advice on soft tips, methods & getting started

Hi all,
Okay, I ordered the Joye ego (w/ extra 1000 mah battery) & received all my packages with my starter kit/battery being held ransom with USPS for a week (almost gave up after being told it had been shipped back to China & some very heated converstaions & then it arrived after being held 10 minutes away). Last night, I finally started prepping/playing around with everything & hit a snag with the empty cart soft tips for the 510/ego that I planned to start with & hit up my XL cartos later (with possible straw, no filler method after trial of filler) with a move to direct drip when I'm not commuting.

Essentially I was ready for soft tips & cartos (using condom method & syringe), but I wasn't ready for a soft tip without an end cap. I did a search here & through youtube & found a video with a a direct drip method onto the filler. My concern is the lack of the end cap although I realize the ego battery is sealed, I'm a bit concerned.

So I have 2 questions & would love any feedback...
1) Basically, do I just fill & insert with no cap (is it essential to prime, push filler back in & then drip)? Make a home-made cap?
2) Should I use the the Simple Cart mod to help w/ filler tip drying which I can imagine would be a problem especially w/ no end cap when in use?
3) What exactly is the Taryn Spin?
4) Am I missing anything?

Okay I lied, so that was actually 6 questions. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks so much!

You've got me confused. Are you talking about carts or cartos? For a video on the Taryn spin just search that on youtube. Taryn spin is for cartos, not carts by the way.

Soory about that Icoth, I'm planning to start with the general carts (all the ones I received including those in the starter kit have the open end) & in the very near future move onto cartos as soon as I get the hang of the initial part (unless I'm totally off on my equipment). However, I stocked up on cartos as well, which I have no problem disassembling, yet the ego style (esp XL) are bit daunting. Hope that clarifies. Thanks for the quick reply.

Thanks, I think I understand why I was confused. I haven't used any ego carts, just the standard 510 ones. I have seen a youtube video on filling the ego cartos. They may have something on the carts as well.

The picture you linked to is a normal ego maga cart, just add your juice to the cart, push it into the ego atty and vape. The plastic cover is for when you take the cart off the atty. Blue foam can be used to replace filler material when it no longer works for you.

The pic is of a cartridge with filler. Put a toothpick down between the filler (white stuff) and the side of the cart. Drip your juice onto the filler. Wiggle the toothpick a bit-this creates air space and allows the filler to soak up the juice faster. Do this until the filler looks a bit slushy on top, if the liquid pools (sits) on top it is a bit too much. You want it to look slushy, not pooling. Drip a couple drips of liquid onto the atomizer (for first time) and place the cartridge onto the atomizer. Puff!
The rest of what you ask is for cartomizers. When you read about carts-they mean cartridges, when your read about cartos-they mean cartomizers.

When you move to using a drip tip (from your other posts) you will remove the cartridge completely and snap on the drip tip directly to the atomizer. Drip in a couple drops and vape. This will take a bit of practice as you do not want to run the atomizer dry and you also don't want to flood the atomizer. The running it dry can and will, if done too much, kill an atomizer. Flooding it just means juice clean up and waste with possible e-liquid in the mouth. If you are using an automatic battery flooding can kill the battery. Looks to me like you purchased a manual, which means the battery is safe. Don't get e-liquid in the button, this is an entry point to electronics and perhaps a sticky button syndrom.

Thank you for the replies & help. Some of the carts & cartos I have are somewhat similiar. Basically, I think I have the gist of it. I found a video late last night & I panicked when I realized that there wasn't an end cap & the filler would be flush with the atomizer. Here's a link to clarify more on the carts for both the ego & 510: Joye 510 cartridges. I just wanted to make sure I was going ahead properly & not about to destroy the battery or atomizer. I will try the Boge type next order & work up the nerve for the larger ego cartos. HzG8rGrl, I appreciate the instructions. Thanks again everyone!
