Just a few good brands - Ehpro, Innokin, Eleaf, definitely not Smok .. There a quite a few more, but those came to my mind without me having to think much at all. IMO the best selling tactic is vaping education and knowledge.

I see! Well I've been googling a lot, following some up-to-date blogs about vape news, etc. I was into buildable vapes anyway but I surely don't have all the required knowledge to be able to effortlessly recommend different types of vapes and liquids to a newbie.

Recommending juice flavors is probably just as difficult to a 'Professional Recommender' (that's a joke by the way) as it would be for me. Everybody has a unique 'taste profile'. Ask a few people to have a taste of a lemon slice. All of them will say and agree it's sour. All of them will have different 'sourness levels' though.

Yeah I get you. I mean if someone asks me for a lemon (let's say) aroma, shouldn't I be able to recommend him the best manufacturers on lemon aroma?

Be honest. "I don't know but let me find out for you" is a perfectly good answer.

SCG's advice on juice recommendations is solid. Many (MANY!) moons ago, vapers would say one of the most obvious statements ever:
    "Taste is subjective."

What tastes like a MARVELOUS apple flavor to my taste buds might well taste like soap to someone else's. Where flavors are concerned, there are no sure bets.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. No point in it when what you need to learn about first is the products that your vape shop carries. Find that out and study up on those products. Odds are it's mostly commercial juice, of which there's no point in recommending something you don't sell, pods, and disposables. You are not likely to see much in the way of mods and rebuildables. These don't appeal to the masses, just us hard-core, old school vapers.
