I do apologize for anything I may have started. I'm new to this site so I didn't think it would be an issue asking that. I used to smoke cigarettes for 4 years and I was at a pack a day. My friends got tired of me smelling like cigarettes so they got me a vape. I soon got interested in mech mods and they kept me off smoking. Soon after vaping I felt the need to smoke again. Once I started seeing people produce more vapor I gave that a try and completely fell in love. I don't feel the need to smoke anymore and it's honestly helped me a lot. I feel better, I taste better, I can actually walk without wheezing. It's just something I love to do.

It's not you. All of us have different reasons we were able to quit and enjoy vaping. Please keep in mind that, almost universally, everyone here just wants to help others quit. How we go about it is just as different as how we quit.

i was in exactly the same boat as you, i was going back to cigerettes towards the end of last year, but decided to look into vaping again and once I saw the bigger clouds new devices can produce (I was still vaping on stick style batteries/egos on clearomizers and the old non rebuildable 510 atties), I got back in bought some variable wattage devices, looked up mods and RDA's and here I am today. I vape, and I dont smoke, I build super subohm builds <0.2ohms, but being around here for a while, ive learned not to label myself a cloudchaser, nor use that phrase to describe myself. people have opinions on everything, and whether they are meant to be insulting or not, sometimes they come across that way. Best bet is just to leave labeling terms out of the discussion so people dont have anything to throw out their opinion on.

I've been flamed on by people who super subohm because I shared different opinions on certain topics, but little do they know I actually do the same practices they do and super subohm myself. At one point some people on this subforum just found a need to dislike me or disregard my posts or accuse me of bashing subohmers/cloudchasers, just because I didnt agree with certain thread topics, it has nothing to do with cloudchasers/tootlepuffers, but people on this forum like to create labels and take sides and flame, regardless if its aggressive flaming that gets deleted/moderated, or just by being passive aggressive which is technically the same thing. It's not a cloudchaser bashing epidemic like people say, its that horde mentality of people taking sides with others if they agree to not agree on certain topics. The labels just exacerbate it even more.

no biggie Juan ... we see cloud chasing questions all the time in general vaping.

However, you will get better response and tips in the cloud chasing forum.

vape for the win :vapor:
Thank you! I am extremely new to this so I'm still getting the hang of it. I had no idea there was a cloud chasing forum.

yeah i was wondering that too as I went there to get the link to link him to the cloud chaser forum on this thread, and saw he made a post in there too. Maybe he just wanted his post to get more views so he could get more replies?
Could be, or maybe it was moved there from somewhere else.

We push support for vaping at FDA workshops and such by creating this imagine of one vaping with a little puffer stick and how it saves lives from the dangers of smoking, yet the powers that be, with a raised eyebrow, see how vaping is being used and how and why it's popularity is evolving.
I certainly don't see anyone from the vaping community pushing support for vaping by making their case to "officials" that includes big clouds and competitions and pointing out that it has become a proactive anti-smoke hobby/sport as well that should not be taken away... because after all, these people are no longer smokers and vaping is allowing them to find a fun and creative way to kick the habit...yet it's never mentioned and we all know why.

Is it really about our personal opinions when it comes to clouds and comps, or is it really about the negative attention it draws to the vaping community and more of an expression of "concern" of what it will result in (at a price to us ALL) from the "powers that be"?
This is all i care about as a vaper....how will it negatively impact MY vaping freedoms if the states or FDA feel the need to bring the hammer down as a result of those type of extreme vaping practices. Yes, i have concerns and it's nothing personal on anyone..it's the witch hunt by the powers that be that worry me.

As has already been said, no need to apologize Juan, you did nothing wrong. You didn't know what you were getting into which is IMO our problem, not yours. People should be able to ask anything about vaping here and get help, even if it's just pointing them in the direction of people who better know the answers. Vape on :)

You did not start anything. You asked a very legitimate question and the douchebags who feel they are holier than you trashed your thread and made you feel you need to apologize for asking a question. Those who did not agree with the question were asking should have been more mature and ADULT and left the thread and said nothing. There is no right way to vape, but a lot of people here like to think there is and if you do something out of the norm, then you are wrong. Bottomline is, you ARE NOT wrong and those who caused this drama in your thread should be the ones apologizing to you.

DeAnna, I agree with a lot of what you said above, but I feel this is not a good reason to ridicule or put down people asking questions about cloud chasing or competitions. IMO education is always the better route both about the technical side of vaping and about the political issues. Ridicule alienates people which means you have almost certainly lost the ability to have any meaningful input to their lives so they look for support elsewhere. Some of the support to be found out there is not good, advice like 'you'll be fine as long as your batteries don't get too hot' and 'I've been running my mech mod at 0.07 ohms for months with no problems' comes to mind. There isn't much we can do to make that stuff stop, but we can educate where possible and influence things that way.

OTOH, if you or anyone has a more productive idea or ideas, I would honestly love to hear it.

Disclaimer: I've never been in a cloud comp.

Toss a nice safe build on your favorite device, grab some high VG liquid and head out. Just have fun and see what happens you'll probably learn more at the competition than here in general discussion on a forum. It's the same way I approached running my car the first time. I knew I wasn't going to blow anyone's doors off with my 06 Mustang with some bolt-ons but I went to have a good time and enjoy the company of other gearheads. And in that respect I exceeded in my expectations greatly. Because I was humble and willing to learn to be better I met some great folks, learned a lot, and am still learning from them.

Chances are there will be others there doing the same thing you are and will have a great time enjoying the atmosphere with other people of a like mind. It's like my Dad always said when I was younger,"Do your best, play fair, and most importantly have fun if you can do all of that you've already won."

Lol holy crap, I'm all for safety (which generally implies "no cloud-chasing") but there's hardly any safety advocating going on in this thread, just useless bashing. Wasn't even warranted, OP wasn't all, "new to vaping, is my .001 ohm build safe?"

C'mon y'all.
