Hi all,
Registered and lurked here for awhile now but never really had a need to post until today.
I've been doing the e-cig/vape thing since November 2014 with a Kanger Emow Mega 1600 mAh as my starter to help me get off my two pack a day cigarette habit. I've had some success but I keep going back and forth. One of the reasons I go back and forth is because I've sort of outgrown my Kanger. Initially it was fine for the first week or two but then I was burning through the battery in less than a day and had no power and would smoke, so I bought a spare battery. Then I was noticing that the Kanger was good and strong for about the first hour from a charge but would taper off and get weak. I'd get frustrated and smoke instead, then my lungs would have enough of smoking after a week or two and I'd cycle back to the Kanger and then it would all repeat.
I finally decided to buy a stronger, more reliable rig this week and did some research and between my research and what was available in my area I ended up with an IPV4S and a Triton tank (I have no interest in building my own coils at this point). I'm using the 0.4 ohm included coil and I've bought that thicker juice with a lower nic content (I don't know the correct terminology to differentiate between the two). The Triton has an upper and lower airflow adjustment, I have the top closed and the lower one is getting fairly close to shut, I find it way too airy otherwise.
My problem/question is (and I realize it's personal and individual) but as a guideline/rule of thumb what sort of watts should I be dialing it in at? I've been everywhere between 10W and 40W and I just can't seem to find a decent spot I'm happy with. I found one site that reviewed it and recommended 30W - 35W Aspire Triton Review - Top Filling Sub Ohm Tank but I'm just not enjoying it like I feel should. For reference, I don't really care about clouds, I'm looking for throat hit and taste. With the Kanger I found a chart online to use as a guideline http://www.vaporsworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/power-vaping-chart-lg.jpg obviously this chart doesn't take sub-ohm into account.
The other thing is, as far as I can tell, the lowest ohms get down to 0.1 ohms in a retail sub-ohm tank and most guys seem to be talking about how they don't go past say about 50W. When would someone use a 100w setting for example? I get that lower ohms equals more watts but I've never heard of a coil less than 0.1 ohms.
I've read a bunch of things that I can find online and Googled what I can, I've been on Reddit, etc and I'm just not getting the answers I seek. I'm sure the vets can see a ton of things I'm mistaken on or just not getting hence my post and request for some advice and guidance here.
Thanks.
